i understood that the tournaments was to start at
8:30. and it did not start until after 10:15. i myself think that is very unacceptable. in the ten years that i have attended the derby tournament i have never seen so much disorganization. don't you preregester for these tournament? if they don't show up the opponent should get a bye. sounds simple to me, no need to
redo all the brackets.
i realise that this next subject is not all the tournaments fault, but the wrestlers, coaches, and PARENTS, there was so many delays because of having to wait on wrestlers, and coaches to the mats. some i realise is the redoing of the brackets, but please, don't skip a match because the wrestlers is not there, and than come back and wrestle if later. they don't show up they forfiet.
from the refs that i seen today, good job, i thought you were all fair.
my final note, why was it such a big deal for the doors to be shut, expecially when the ref requested that they be open. we were 3 hours extra sitting there, and it was hot. gosh knows there was not enough room for everyone to sit on the floor or lower seats.

I could not agree more!!! Running a Novice and Open tournament on the same day is not a good idea. I heard there were 3 teams who came in today and that was a big issue for starting late if so shame on Derby, why have deadlines if not abided by. I also heard that over 100 kids came in to weigh at 7:30 and this pushed things back as well, parents need to be more responsible and get kids to weigh in. Also some club did not turn in the right weights on pre-registration. When you have to change bouts it effects and entire mat from 1-120 matches.

I cannot belive the amount of time waited for wrestlers to come to a mat. Though it did not happen a lot it should not happen at all.!! There does not even need to be a call of so and so to mat what ever. What are these kids learning by showing up late and allowed to wrestle. Athletics are to teach responsibility and this sure does not teach responsibility. If it happened once and they had to forfeit it would not happen again.

The doors were ridiculous. Come on derby a little compassion for all please?? With all those bodies in there the auxillary gym was sweltering and it was a relief to have doors open. I am sure we will hear fire hazard or what ever and what was with B-98 music being pumped over the speakers through out the day.

Open and Novice together dont work in this big of a tournament. Maybe they should have put the Novice in the middle school and open in the high school. Just my 2 cents

But once you got rolling Derby to your credit you kept it moving pretty good.

PS DONT RUN OUT OF HOT DOGS BY NOON!!!!!!!!!!!

Parents, great job of maintaining control when it would have been easy to be impatient. Refs were great and the kids were super.

Im there for my kids to wrestle. I dont want my kids getting a bye all the way to the finals and that was the case at Derby on a lot of the brackets. I think they did the right thing and did change the brackets. I know where your coming from though, if a kid doesn't get a bye all the way to the finals then the bracket doesn't need to be changed. Im glad they changed them though because I had alot of kids that would of just wrestled 1 match because they would of byed all the way to the finals.

The main reason the kids were given a bit more time was there was no microfone in the south gym untill afternoon.IT was the officials who chose to skip matches and come back them. They were doing all possible to help Derby keep wrestlers on the mat
