Jacks stumble at No. 2 Iowa State AMES, Iowa - Redshirt freshman Aaron Pickrel led the SDSU wrestling team to its only win as the No. 2 Iowa State Cyclones flattened the Jacks 43-3.
The Cyclones wrestled six ranked wrestlers (Intermat) and recorded eight wins by extra-point victories including two by fall, two by technical fall and a SDSU forfeit at 133 pounds. The loss drops the Jacks to 0-1 on the season while Iowa State improves to 1-0 in both teams season-opening dual.
"I thought our kids wrestled hard tonight," said head coach Jason Liles. "We were outmatched at a lot of weights, but I thought we wrestled hard. Overall, I thought our kids represented SDSU very well."
The Jacks return to action at the Harold Nichols Open in Ames on Saturday.
