This was a very good day. To start the day off Blayzes primary doctor visited with us and indicated that she would like to get Blayze transferred back to Kansas by the weekend if possible. She was hoping to get the surgery scheduled for Tuesday at that time. She was happy with how things are coming along. She also said the strain of Acinetobacter that Blayze has is not the severe resistant type but one that can be controlled without much difficulty with antibiotics. BUT since we have been moved to the infectious disease floor we must remain there until he is transferred or released. Then the Renal Specialist came by and said as of now and barring any surprise infections, etc he is not planning or seeing the need to do anymore dialysis. The creatinine levels have lowered slightly without dialysis the past 2 days which is what he has been looking for to indicate the kidneys are beginning to kick in. The plastic surgeon came by next and explained the planned procedure to repair the right side of his face. This will involve some titanium plates and screws on the fractures. This surgery along with the closing of the amputation are scheduled for Thursday now, but we told them we would like to do it sooner if at all possible. This is the first time we have met him and he has seen Blayze since the day he arrived at the emergency room. We could see by the expression on his face that he is amazed how Blayze has recovered. He expressed to him that he should be on some show like Dateline Survivor or something because it is an amazing recovery. This is the type of day we have been looking for and feel very fortunate to still have our son who has recovered so well thus far and has handled things in such a positive manner. Thanks once again for everything!
