Well had a great experience at Chanute. Was A pretty good tournament but was long, didnt get out of there til 4pm. It was pretty disheartening knowing that i couldnt get anything to eat at a hospitality room cause there wasn't one. Knowing that they gave me a ticket for the concession stand. I would have never had time to stand in line for a hotdog for thirty minutes as my kids had to do. But i do know one thing that is how alot of clubs judge where they will go and wont go. I guess we will know better next time. There are way to many clubs putting on tournaments now days to slack in any ways, such as the convinience of a hospitality room for the coaches. Well so long for now.

It is kind of like the difference between staying at a Super 8 motel and having the continental breakfast versus staying at Embassy Suites Hotel and going through their breakfast buffet with all the breakfast fixings and omelets made to order. I see where it can make an impression as to the venue you are attending (staying at). The Johnson County Classic was an Embassy Suite type of experience, and I really enjoyed the stay.

Coaches did not have to stand in line.

I walked up and got pizza, chips and a drink in less than 2 minutes???

maybe they were trying to tell some of you coaches that you dont need to eat. i saw a few the could go without a few meals. stop your crying over a meal and go for the wrestling. unreal. thats the first time i have ever heard someone complain about a tournament because of that rather than the wait and wrestling. Do you go for the food or for the competition. is it for you or for the kids. I had to wait 3 hours for my kids first match but i didnt complain. I got to see some kids that I havent seen before. Thats why I went there. Next time by god I want my own little buffet then.

See everyone on here jumps to conclusions. Im just saying it is courtesy to coaches to offer a hospitality room. And as for you saying i go to eat well im not rude i wont cut in front of thirty people to get something from the concessions. Just think what all them people in line thought about you when they saw you cut in front of them, while they had been in line for some thirty minutes. And for your infomation if it wasnt for my child wanting to wrestle i wouldnt have been there that was the only reason we were there. So maybe you ought to "justthinkit" before you "justsayit" I've read several of your posts and have cleary seen that all you can do is badger someone for making a valid point and turning it into something else.

Well for all you coaches that cut in line i just lost respect for you the people waiting in line probably did to. So if your kid was hungry you would probably let him cut in line as well(benelli) That is just rude no matter where you are.

no matman that would be sportsfan so dont get us mixed up. I just laugh at you people that come on here and complain about stupid things like that. Everyone wants to complain but nobody wants to help. When I was at the classic a couple years ago all I heard was get this thing going and all the complaining. So what I did rather than stand there and complain I grabbed a mop and mopped the damn mat. You get the idea. Next year im sure Chanute will let you help serve food or maybe if your lucky they will let you clean the darn bathroom. Now is that better for you.

the problem at chanute was the mats, too close to the doors. ice melt and rocks on the edges. just seemed like poor planning from a group that has been doing it awhile.

Hospitality room or not, the worst part of Chanute was driving all the way down there having your kid wrestle number 20 then his next match in an eight man bracket being 170 because everyone else scratched. I know people complain about the delays with track wrestling but at least track wrestling will set up brackets so your kids can get matches. Instead of having people not show up after hand written brackets are done two days early. Seven hours in a Gym for two matches five hours apart. What a day.

While I'm writing, what is up with not using the extra gym they have. If they would have barrowed two more mats and put the twelve and fourteen's in the other gym the whole thing would have moved a LOT better, and maybe the concession line wouldn't have been 30 min long. Well that’s my complaint for the month.

You sure didn't not grab a mop last Saturday. I never saw the mats get cleaned. I have yet to see a mat get mopped at any tourney I have been to this year. What happened to having all the wrestlers clear the mats and have them mopped before the matches begin?? I mean it takes less than 10 minutes and when a tourney is already 20 to 30 minutes late, is another 10 minutes that big of a deal? Get those mats clean!

Ok I'll let you all get back on topic! laugh

your number was 20 but my sons first match was 90 then 187 and i came down from Wichita. I am not complaining. I know when I sign up that there is always a chance those things will happen. My question to all of you complaining is did your child complain. Every match my sons both wrestled they came off smiling. Thats more important to me than long lines to get a bite to eat. Thats all I am saying. Coming on here to complain to the world is probably not the right way to handle it. Matman what you probably need to do is email or call Bill Fiscus and tell him about it. I do agree somewhat about the hospitality but thats not on my priority list. I have been going to Chanute for 4 years now and its ran like that every time. You get meal tickets. Now Matman I have told you what I think about it on here because I can. Have a great day. See ya at the next tournament and good luck to your kids.

I would tend to go along with Sucker Punch the kids & refs wrestling/working the North mats were truly in the trenches....the doors were difficult to move through and the mats ended way too close to the door. The 14 & U's were in the 'other" gym....12 & U's were done pretty early.....in the main gym....

As far as concessions I can never recall a line with the time/wait as long as it was at the Woods Classic this year.
In regards to Hospitality room.....most coach's won't cut a line that long to get a quick "pick-m-up" it's courteous for the refs and coach's to go somewhere where they can take a quick break/breather to get refreshed for the rest of the day.

just my .02

don't look at it as complaints, look at it like a suggestions for correction of errors. i heard many suggestions about the mats, and i saw some kids cleaning mat 5 about every two matches.
i thought the novice idea was great, and thought the competition was level (no sandbaggers). overall a good tournament, in a new facility, has room for improvment, don't we all.

suckerpunch I agree with you on maybe its not complaining. But to come on the forum and announce it to the world is not what needs to be done. They have a tournament director and he is the one to take care of it not the rest of us. I go to that tournament every year and its been like that every year. I go because my kids want to. Not for the food thats for sure. I always take fruit with me no matter where I go. I just think there are many more important things to talk not complain about then the hospitality. yes it probably is nice to have that but its not important enough to come on a forum and tell the world about it. By the way SuckerPunch you owe me from way back in the day. I know you probably dont remember but you still owe me.

Well i will leave it at this. I wasnt complaining. And as long as bockman and sports fan are on here, i guess that no one else can have an opinion. It seems that those two turn the littlest comment into an onslought massacre. Thanks everyone else for at least trying to understand my point. Oh yea hey bockman if you dont like what someone else is saying then go find a different thread to read other then justt start "COMPLAINING" about someone elses "COMPLAINT".

Ok I will matman. Your right I did get on your thread but it just seems to me that it would be easier to tell the tournament director instead of telling everyone else. MY BAD.
