I watched Wayne Joint #52 Junction City at sprawls and was pretty impressed with his skills.

I started my son when he was 3 , me and him was new to the sport, i never pushed him at all, aslong as he was having fun, I was having fun, he was a bigger 3 yr old not heavy but bigger, started at the 48lb,,, i took him to every novice tournament, his first year and never won a match, but he was always smiling! his second year he was 58lb and didnt win a match till the 2nd to last tournament,, but as soon as he won his first match it clicked in him and he just pushed himself to wrestle and practice hard ,, he did alright his 3rd season wining a couple tournaments and placing top 3 in most of them. and taking 3rd at 6U state ... now hes in his 4th year and still 6U, and hes loving it, and I love watching him and helping out! i learned about wrestling with him, and enjoy the sport! i do find myself starting to push him a little more cause hes been wrestling for 4 seasons now,, but am often reminded that heck! Hes still just a 6 yr old!!! so I back off a little....
however i do appreciate what the sport and coaches have done in helping with his discipline and maturity in life !

Wayne Joint is one of the best i've seen at 52#'s, Ayden Dolt from Lawson is as tough as they come at 45#'s. Last year was our first year and my son was 5, it was his idea to wrestle, at first we went to practice the 2 nights a week, then it became a battle to get him to go, and we started to do once a week or not at all. This year he has taken a 180, loves to practice at home and go to the club practices. I don't push him, it is his option to practice or how many tournaments he wants to wrestle in.

Having watched Dolt myself in the Lawson tourn. He was good. The 6u 50lb brackets have been great to watch. Saw Thompson not only win the match against BALLENGER, but also pinned him. That kid has only lost 3matches this season and NEVER been pinned, til he met up with Thompson from Kearney, Mo.
Kal Miller is a great wrestler, lots of moves. He leaves no room for error when you meet him on the mat. Thompson however, a very strong kid who doesn't give up easy. Not much technique, but lots of mustle.
Guess 1 thing holds true..The boys who train with Purler rise to the top.--

We have seen good competition at every meet we have attended and this is my sons last year at 6/U so his confidence is high. He lost his first match in KS at our last tournament. He just gave up...something I have never seen from him because he is so competitive (especially in the living room with his older brother) and I thought he was going to have a meltdown. Now I am absolutely a competitive dad (being involved in this sport in some fashion since I was 5) and I couldn't believe it. We had the talk about giving it 100% all the time, not just when it is easy and it clicked with him...he went out and took 3rd. I was so upset with his giving up that I think I overlooked his attitude at that very moment...he looked so sluggish and tired and I lost my focus on my son. I hope I never do that again but I still always want 100% from him even if he is getting beat down...that's all I have ever asked from them. So don't forget that this sport has so much to offer from a "life lesson" point of view...sportsmanship...desire...dedication...discipline...but most of all fun and love for the sport and the people that care enough about it to keep it around!! Good luck to all you dad's out there...hope we can all "get it" at some point!!
PS...watch out for 2 guys at 6/U...what a fun lil rivalry these two have going!! It is great to watch them become friends!!
