I agree that it defies common sense but a whole lot of districts have the policy that if school is closed that day no activity can occur, which is what probably crippled some of the schools mentioned. Ulysses I don't believe had school and I assume the same was true for Dodge. I don't know about Holcomb which is 5 miles away from Garden City, but I am sure they wanted to be there. I know we wanted to go to Concordia, but school was cancelled, so we were out of luck.

From other viewpoints, there were some really bad accidents during the time we would have been traveling and our kids are our greatest assets. I know our bus driver would have gotten us there safely on his end, but other drivers can be inexperienced winter drivers causing dangerous driving conditions.
