I would like to hear thoughts on hair length for wrestlers. Are there rules in place to address this? If so, are they ever enforced?
I ask because I have seen matches stopped several times for a young man to do his hair, adjust his beanie cap and head gear. Sometimes it appears to be a stalling technique. At one particular tournament, the referee finally allowed the young man to wrestle matches without the beanie, and with hair hanging down outside the headgear.
I know that in middle school or high school football, participants are not allowed to wear any type of beanie, skull cap, or do-rag under the helmet for safety reasons. In football, if an athlete chooses to have long hair hanging out the back of the helmet, then the hair can legally be used as a "handle" to tackle.
