I think this is my issue. If Bobby and Johnny wrestle all year....why are they hopping around in Timmy and Jimmy's subs? I feel you should have to make a showing in the age and weight you are going to make a run for state. Changing age or weight for different competition levels, seems to me like you are not meeting up to your ability level. the only age changing, is 6u wrestling as an 8u, i don't see that as an advantage. why would anyone have a problem with someone wrestling out of their sub area? we have kids wrestle up in age and weight all the time, to get better, push/challenge themselves. i don't see how that is a problem either? this is GO time, you don't win medals on saturdays, you win them through the week. you don't get to state in one weekend, you prepare all year.

why would anyone have a problem with someone wrestling out of their sub area? Am I misunderstanding your meaning If you are talking about someone wrestling in a different Sub Districts then they are supposed to then I have a HUGE problem with that. If that's what you are actually saying.

no i'm misunderstanding cowboys point. i believe the complaint was about wrestling in different areas, ages, and weights BEFORE, and now showing up and "TAKING" someone's seed.

Got ya... I encourage my boys to wrestle up and DOWN in weights and up in age and to try to double dip whenever possible. Unless you are a monster on the national scene nothing really matters until starting this weekend. Go BIG or You Stay HOME

there always seems to be hard feelings about seedings this time of year. they don't matter as much as they would seem to.

throughout the season you go where the toughest competition is. I have had my boy wrestle from 70 to 76 all season. there were not many 73 and 76 lbs all year so mainly stayed at 70 knowing he would probably end up at 73 and 76 at the end. wrestled 2 nationals at 75 then tulsa at 70. you dont get better by beating the same 2 kids at every tournament.

This sound's alot like our scenario. We wrestle up age, weight, different area's and double dipping when possible. Then there are no surprises come State. Even been not seeded and got first. Honestly I don't care about a seed, give us a last seed and we will take on number 1. Everyone complain's about cutting weight, but if someone goes up that is a big deal too. Look up any tourney Mason has went to and you will see he has alway's gave up weight State, National's, and weekend tourney's. So say what you mean. Who are you talking about? Win or Lose , we are there to wrestle. Oh and alot of coaches asked what we were going for State and I told them 64, I never once lied. Their reaction was a look of surprise.

I think it is funny how some of you say "we" are doing this and "we" are doing that...just let the kids wrestle and have fun...yeah competition is a factor in their learning experience but why must adults include themselves in this competiton...you don't get on the mat for your kid (whether it's actually your child or one of your wrestlers) so just ask the child to do his/her best before walking out on the mat and when they do (win or lose) carry them off the mat like a champion!!
Good luck to all the "competitors"!!
