Typically you look for the kid who drives himself or family there. That is a warning sign!

WEIGH INS

Each sub district has agreed to conduct the remote weigh in from 3pm to 4:30 pm. A list will be emailed to each director on Friday. The actual weights will be entered into the spreadsheet and emailed to James Cook on Saturday afternoon. Each Sub will man a scale and announce the weigh in at 3pm. There shouldn't be more than 50 competitors at each site. If you need until Sunday you can weigh in on site from 7am to 7:30am. Please understand that you will have to make this scratch weight again in Iowa on April 9th if you are on one of the Middle School National Dual teams.

IF you don't make weight you can bump up one weight class.

I'm just happy there is only going to be one Zak Hensley in the 100 pound bracket and not two. In this bracket, it will be plenty tough with just one.

Will the scales be available throughout the day at subs? Our wrestler is at 165lb for Kids State but 160lb for MSD. It would help to know how the weight is doing throughout the day, so he can adjust if need be.

My boy is in the same boat. Wrestling 92 but has to be 90. I am sure the crew up in Holton will let us check weight if they are able to. The are a pretty solid crew to work with within the rules.

I asked my boy if he wanted to wrestle 95. He said, "My worry is not wrestling a Kansas kid who wrestles 95, but the kid in Ohio who is cutting 6 lbs to get to 95.

A unique challenge this year at subs!

I might be mistaken but it looks as though there might be a wrestler in 189 that is in the ninth grade.

Just searching track wrestling and it looks like Alex Knight might be a ninth grader. There was only one Alex Knight in the system. But, the Alex Knight in the system is from North Carolina.

There was an Alex Knight that wrestled U12 140-150 at the Con-Kids tournament in January of 2008. All this means is that he would be qualified to wrestle U14 this year, but does not determine if he was in 8th grade or 9th grade this year. So, the bottom line is, the only thing that I can conclude from this is, that he is not likely a 7th grader or a sophomore.

When are the brackets going to be released??? Just curious...what criteria was used for rating a wrestler an A or B wrestler?

It is the responsibility of the person that enters them to rate them.

I am getting really excited about this Sunday! I just talked to Bob Gonzales and I think he is going to MC for us. The brackets are loaded and there are going to be some battles. Blue Chip is bringing the custom t-shirts and their selection of singlets and equipment. The Smokey Valley Kids Club is doing a great job of getting everything in order. We owe them a big thanks for helping make this happen!

I am going to spend tomorrow seeding these brackets. We have one bracket that has more than 16 the rest will be 16 and 8 man brackets. We will wrestle the preliminary rounds in two gyms, two mats each, using the first available mat. All backside matches will be completed using two gyms and then the finals will be wrestled in one gym on two mats. Awards will be handed out immediately following the finish so that we can capture the top six in a podium picture.

***IMPORTANT***
We will assume that if you place 5th and have not wrestled the 4th place wrestler you will want to challenge for 4th. If you do not you will need to report to the head table and indicate that you DO NOT want to challenge for fourth.

This is a USA sanctioned event. The grievance committee will be made up of: Myself, Denny Hensley - Head Official, and James Cook - Co-Tournament Director. Any ejection will result in missing the district tournament. There is no way I want this to happen so lets not have to use this committee.

Good Luck on Saturday and we will see you on Sunday!
