This tourney has to have exceeded any reasonable expectations that its organizers could have hoped. 230+ kids?! What a turnout! The reason it has attracted so much attention is thanks to Cokeley and crew, for making the Middle School National Duals such a fun and rewarding event. All of these years that they have had to "drum up" support from the kids to go, now kids are willing to COMPETE to be a part of it. And trust me, it is worth COMPETING for a spot on this team. The only thing that compares to it is to be a part of the Schoolboy, Cadets, or Junior Duals teams that represent Kansas.

Hopefully tourneys like this continue to grow, in order to help Kansas continue to improve on the national scene.

I have to agree. Cokeley and the gang have done a great job of trying to ensure that Kansas sends the best we have to offer.....a "qualifying" tournament helps in that area. I know that neither my son, nor I, knew anything about a Kansas dual team last year, let alone, how to become a part of it. I would like to see him try the GR/FS duals as well but that is up to him. However, that makes for a long season and he's not really experienced in the GR/FS arena. Anyway, good luck to all and see you tomorrow. Bring your 'A' Game.

I am extremely happy we went. The competition was great all across the board. I don't believe I saw a match that both wrestlers weren't giving it their all. There were so many close matches all day and it was fun to be there watching. These kids will represent Kansas very well. Best of luck team Kansas.

I'll check the "I concur" box on that Redployed! Wow what a day. Got to see some great match ups between tough kids that normally I just hear about. This event was a great idea and I hope we see it continue for many years. Thank you to everyone who helped put on this tournament and also to the hardcore wrestling parents who after a sub district, drove their kids from all over Kansas to let their kids compete in some of the toughest matches I've seen this year! What hotel is it that the team will be in. I would like to get a room there as well if possible.

We will update the challenge match results on Monday. Challenges for fourth are not a standard trackwrestling setup. I didn't think through the possibilities very well. We discovered that 5th could have beaten fourth earlier, that they could have wrestled each other twice splitting matches, and we had to adjust on the fly erroring on the side of mat time and let a match decide who would be in the top 4.

The hotel is the Adventureland Inn on the east side of Des Moines.

I was updating my 11 year old on two of his friends who wrestled today. He was excited to hear how well they did and that they got to go on to Iowa to represent Kansas. His first question was... "Can I go too?". He's got a year before he's in Middle School - Thanks for giving him something to work towards!
