This in no way (in my opinion) explains any discrepancy that is being discussed here (which was present, but since you assured us all about this being a "mistake", is no longer). It does speak to, however, the unfortunate circumstance that the scales weren't (apparently) certified/accurate (it would seem). How in the world any state in the country (except for California of course) would hold a state tournament without 100% certified scales, is beyond this insensitive sob.
