To be honest with you, I can't recall. I think it may have been one of the unanimous ones that passed. Up one age group max I believe. I could be wrong.

Yes I believe it passed without opposition.

ok thanks doug. at least you are honest. so in one sentence what was the proposal for 6 and under. i have read this post and still dont understand what people were debating. ottawa? no ottawa? 6 and under at topeka? no 6 and under at topeka state series? well topeka is just toooo crowded for all ages at once. period so I would have left the 64 man/32 man bracket in ottawa. to add 6 and under to state series, we would of had to make it a 4 day event or split the whole state series into 2 wkends. leave the qualifying tournaments alone. it would only add 1 extra wk of wrestling to the year for everyone. just my observation. please, nobody beat on me here.LOL

so 3 or 4 clubs from D2 wouldn't have mattered. D1 voted against it?

Were they told it was mandatory to vote?

Number of clubs that left by district.

D-I 5 clubs left before voting
D-II 8 clubs left before voting
D-III 7 clubs left before voting
D-IV 2 clubs left before voting

22 votes left - it sure could have made a difference.

How many clubs need to be in attendance to have a quorum?
Majority and

119 194 61.34%
97 194 50.00%

119 or 61.34% clubs showed up
97 or 50% of the clubs actually voted

upon the affirmative vote or two&thirds of the members of the Board present and voting, a quorum being present.

In nutshell, it would have created a district 6u tourney the sunday after high school regionals, and a 6u state tourney, with 4 qualifiers from each district, 16 man bracket, I believe the sunday after high school state. Most 6u kids would be done by March 1st, unless they chose to wrestle Folkstyle nationals, Roller tourneys, or the Classic.

Same awards as the other kids state series gives out.

Something that wasn't pointed out was that Ottawa would have still been able to have a district tourney, and it probably would have been nearly as big as their state tourney, as a big majority of their participants are district one kids already.

Again, the biggest positive to me was the 6u being done with wrestling a month earlier than they are now.

Water under the bridge, like I said. We can put it to rest. Unless I hear a club b*tching about us not having a 6u state, that didn't show up to cast a vote.

Let's move on.

By the way Smokey, your argument that you think clubs left because they were "told" how to vote helps my argument for the secret ballot.

Do you agree or disagree with my idea to make our voting more legit?

The numbers you present about only 61% of the clubs showing up, and only 50% voting, are atrocious. My guess is that if the coaches, parents, and kids of the clubs that didn't show, or didn't vote, knew about it, they would be livid. I guarantee you that if the person who was supposed to go, told their club they couldn't or wouldn't go, someone else would have taken their place.

That goes to show you that every vote counts!!!

The people that showed up and left could of had the swing vote either way!

2 things:
Will the attendance be posted?
Will the actual roll call vote be posted?

Lastly...
I hope when people get on this forum and start complaining about how long the season is for the little guys, we will be able to go on here and post a link and say "Go tell these people". Cause the way I see it the voting members of this organization disagree with you!!

Why would the parents of 6U wrestlers from District 4 vote to drive right by Salina all the way to Ottawa? That seems very strange to me.

This I agree with.

Raising your hand with a voting card and standing up is pretty honest and fair.

Doug I am with you on this one.You can set and talk to some one for hours they will agree over and over, till some one else walks in the room that is higher ranking or has more power.

This happems to me alot.If I see some thing roung I will try to get it fixed.Or at least bring it up so all can see it.What most people think changes on who they stand beside.

Secret ballot will fix that.

So you don't see any issues with the way we vote?

Now I am starting to think you are a Jeckyl and Hyde kinda dude. You turned from a pretty reasonable poster, to a guy that is on the defensive constantly.

Maybe your reason for people leaving was wrong. Maybe mine is right. They left because they were too embarassed to vote their minds in public..............

I also think there is a certain level of fear in the voting process because we cant afford to upset certain people.
What if someone was to think well if Im in district one and I vote for this thing and come tournament time will these clubs be upset at me and not attend my tournament like they have the last 5 years. Some smaller clubs cant afford to take a hit like that so in the open voting they are forced to support certain clubs.
Its kind of sad to say that this happens but we all know its just another form of leverage that certain clubs have.

I say put a seperate card in each packet for every major issue to be voted on and we mark the card, turn it in, its counted by 3 or more people and we move on!

I knew someone smarter than me could add to my reasoning for a secret vote. That is a very good point........
