I would just like to say, in regards to Kmiec running, how do you know that it didn't have to do with who had choice to go out first? The way I heard it was that they both weighed in at 125. It all could have been strategy. Berends wrestled tough but ended up getting pinned, but if he hadn't, GE ends up getting the better end of it. These are high school wrestlers, not pro athletes, and 9 times outta 10 are NOT making the decision who they do and don't wrestle in a dual. Just as I am positive that Stokes wanted a rematch, I am positive Kmiec would have had alot of confidence after beating him 8-3 at Holton. It angers me to hear people making those comments about kids being afraid, or ducking etc...especially when they are as high caliber as Stokes and Kmiec. The elite wrestlers want to wrestle the elite!
Now as for the dual last night, very hard fought match. You could tell there might have been some extra work done in the Blazers practice room defending the snake and the high flier. Very physical match on both sides of the mat. Awesome to be under a mat light and I will say it once again, duals bring out the true team aspect of this sport. Both benches and fans were very much into the meet. Very high energy in the gym. Props to the Heights fans for travelling so well.
