Contrarian: I SO disagree with you on larger schools with too many competing activities to field a full team.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You have more students so yes more activities but overall more students to field a team.

I maintain students have changed in the past few years and not for the better when dealing with competition. They do NOT want to be "on stage" and only rely on him or herself.

A good wrestling team can be built in any school, it is called tradition.. yes you have some up and down years and at the same time there is SUCCESS..

Wrestling is a very difficult sport and our society has let our students not experince competition as well as we should. SEEMS EVERYONE MUST GET A RIBBON OR MEDAL OR PRIZE when they are younger so the can "feel good" about competing..

Ok off the soap box.. but a larger school has more kids to chose from.. thus the potential for a GREAT team.. smaller schools do not have that.. but they build from what they have.

... 5 and 6 A regionals: this really makes me sad to see that over half the wrestlers from 5 and 6 A make it to state.. If they only have an 8 man bracket at Regionals, why not only make it an 8 man bracket at state? Send the top 2 on from each regional with a wrestle back for a true 2nd. Like I said, if they have smaller regionals, why not smaller state too?

Just some thoughts.

Old wrestlers never die, they just get better smile
