What a great Kansas high school wrestler to start our Class of 2011 College Bound Senior List with!!!!

Taylor Moeder of St. James Academy has committed to wrestle at Old Dominion University. Taylor Moeder has an outstanding record during his high school career. It is one of the best overall records in Kansas high school wrestling history. I am no doubt going to leave something off of his record and please add to it if you can see that I failed to mentioned something.

Taylor Moeder started his high school career at Colby High School and placed 3rd in 4A as a 103 freshman in 2008. Taylor transferred to St. James Academy in Lenexa, Kansas and won his first 4A state championship in 2009 at 112. Taylor followed that up last year with his second 4A state championship in 2010 at 130. Taylor finished the season ranked No. 1 All Class in Chief Renegades Final 2010 All Class ranking. Chief Renegade also ranked Taylor Moeder in his final Fab Five 2010 list of his top five overall wrestlers in Kansas.

To top all that off Taylor Moeder had an incredible summer wrestling season. Taylor placed fourth at 135 in freestyle at the Fargo National championships. Taylor Moeder is the 2010 Greco Roman 135 National Champion.

Tremendous high school career! Congratulations to Taylor Moeder and his family. Best of luck to you on your senior year in high school and we wish you the best in your academics and wrestling at Old Dominion University when you start there next year in the Fall of 2011.

We now have our second class of 2011 senior to add to the list.

Quote:
Daniel Deshazer has verbally committed to the University of Oklahoma and will accept a very nice scholarship package during the November signing period. I will personally say I am very proud of Daniel.

Daniel is a 2 time High School State Champion and 1 time runner-up as well as a 4 time Fargo Cadet/Junior All-American. He has compiled a prep record of 102-3 in his first three years of prep competition.

He will be joining his former Wichita Heights Teammates Kendric Maple and Chase Nelson on the OU Squad for the 2011-12 Academic year!

Congrats Daniel, you very much deserve what you have received! And I would like to add.... "Go Sooners!!!!!!"
Coach Church

Daniel, Good luck with your wrestling and academics in your senior year in high school and the following year at the University of Oklahoma.

If anyone else would like to take on the maintenance of this list this year on this topic, please let me know. I will do it if no one else wants to do it because I do know a lot of the wrestlers, coaches and their parents seem to have liked it the last two years that I have compiled it. My son is now in his sophomore year in college and I am not following the high school wrestling as much as I did a couple of years ago so another interested person might be better suited to maintain the list this year. Let me know if anyone is interested. It has been very worthwhile for me over the last two years doing this. I have had some very good communication mostly via e-mail with wrestlers, their parents, high school coaches and future college coaches in the process of compiling the list. I have received a lot of cooperation from them. I think if someone else decided to compile the list going forward that they would also enjoy the experience.

I have decided to maintain this list again this year. I have been in communication with an individual who is interested in potentially taking it over next year when his son starts high school.

I have several to add to the list already. I have looked up the recruiting list from Intermat and their are several Kansas names on the list. I plan to add them one a day because I want to take some time to research their accomplishments and if possible to give each one a day to be featured on this topic.

Today I am adding Jake Gentzler, a wrestler who has had an outstanding high school wrestling career. I am not sure what Jake's final career numbers are but he finished 36-1 this year and currently NO. 1 ranked in Chief Renegade's All Class rankings at 125. Jake is a four time State Finalist and a 3 time State Champion including this year at 5A 125. Jake wrestled for Andover Central HS and has made a verbal committment to wrestle next year at Arizona State University. We wish Jake the best of luck next year in his wrestling and academics at Arizona State University.

Reported by posters to be wrestling next year at:

Jake Gentzler of Andover Central---Arizona State University--Verbal per Intermat 3-8-11
Taylor Moeder of St. James Academy---Old Dominion University
Daniel Deshazer of Wichita Heights HS--University of Oklahoma--Verbal per Intermat 3-8-11

I am starting to receive more college confirmations on 2011 seniors. I will be entering more over the next several days. I need to spread the announcements out a little for myself and also I think it helps to feature each wrestler better.

The next wrestler that I want to feature is Dylan Penka of Kapuan Mt. Carmel HS. Dylan was the 5A 171 State Champion this year with a 38-1 record and shares the Chief Renegade current #2 All Class Ranking with Taylor Baird of Pratt HS. I am currently researching more information on Dylan's accomplishments from his 2008, 2009 and 2010 and will include that as soon as I get that information. Dylan Penka will be wrestling next year at South Dakota State Universtiy.

Dylan Penka, congratulations and good luck next year with your wrestling and academics at South Dakota State University.

Reported by posters to be wrestling next year at:

Tyler Baughman of Lansing HS---Briarcliff University Sioux City, IA
Spenser Blew of Lansing HS---Air Force Academy
Daniel Deshazer of Wichita Heights HS--University of Oklahoma--Verbal per Intermat 3-8-11
Jake Gentzler of Andover Central---Arizona State University--Verbal per Intermat 3-8-11
Taylor Moeder of St. James Academy---Old Dominion University
Dylan Penka of Kapaun Mt. Carmel---South Dakota State University
----------------------------------------------------------------

2011 Senior Wrestlers who are planning on attending college next year and participating in other sports or pursuing other interests:

Derique Carey of Lansing HS---Football at Fort Scott Community College

Please let me know if any of the above information is incorrect and needs to be changed or if any additions or deletions need to be made to the above list. Paratroop, I appreciate your post.

I going to add on the list several wrestlers. I will follow in the coming days with additional information on each of these additional wrestlers. I need a little more time to research some additional information on each wrestler and I want to try to stay on a schedule where I am featuring about one wrestler a day right now. Late last night I featured Zack Grimes of Osawatomie HS. The additonal wrestlers that I am adding to the list today will be highlighted in red below. If anyone has any information on any of them please send me a private message on it or you could also post it on this topic.

Zack Grimes of Osawatomie HS---Fort Hays State University
Derek Holly of Shawnee Heights HS---Fort Hays State University
Kyle Johnson of Columbus HS---Fort Hays State University
Taylor Moeder of St. James Academy---Old Dominion University
Dylan Penka of Kapaun Mt. Carmel---South Dakota State University
Zack Tanenbaum of Blue Valley North HS---Brown University Verbal per Intermat 3-8-11
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2011 Senior Wrestlers who are planning on attending college next year and participating in other sports or pursuing other interests:

Jesse Austin of Baldwin HS---Football and Track at Baker University
Derique Carey of Lansing HS---Football at Fort Scott Community College
Thomas Lowe of Eureka HS---Football at Butler County Community College
Tate Omli of Ell-Saline HS---Football at Butler County Community College

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please let me know if any of the above information is incorrect and needs to be changed or if any additions or deletions need to be made to the above list. On additions it helps if I receive a confirmation by posting or private message from the wrestler, a parent, high school coach or college coach. Also it helps if I can get any accomplishments like state championships, state placing or qualifying, league titles so I can make special mention of that in the announcement with the listing. A link to a newspaper article of the signing is also a good confirmation source. Thank you

Thomas Lowe of Eureka HS is playing football next year at Butler County Community College. Thomas placed fourth at state in wrestling the last two years. Thomas is listed as a 6-1 210 pound linebacker on the football recruiting list.

Congratulations, Thomas Lowe, and best of luck with your football and academics next year at Butler County Community College.

Thank you, Coach Harris. I see that Jesse Austin of Baldwin HS also had a very good year as a wrestler for you this year as a State Qualifier and I believe he had 30 wins. I have added Jesse to the list above.

Congratulations, Jesse Austin, and good luck with football, track and your wrestling at Baker University next year.
