Based on Current NFHS Tournament Scoring there should also be advancement scoring, 2 points for a pin, 1.5 points for a tech, and 1 point for a major. There should also be advancement 2 advancement points on the up side and 1 for the down or consolation side for a win. I realize this makes things even more complicated, but it would still be fun to see using the two formulas. One for just placement and one using advancement criteria.

I actually like the advancement and bonus point options because it gives value to a kid who maybe went 2 and 2 but didn’t place, and even value to a kid who goes 0-2 but don’t get pinned. Thus giving to the "Team" concept more value.
