I had a blast coaching in Hays. I got my first yellow card since little league soccer, and got a crash course on how bad the USA officiating network for youth is. Hopefully all that attended learned a few good things that they can take home and use in their wrestling.
There is tons of strategy in Freestyle and Greco wrestling today. You have use this to your favor.

So, current Kansas Wrestlers wrestling Freestyle and Greco. The biggest advice I have to offer and area we can make the biggest gain in, is wrestling the edge of the mat!!! The push out rule is something we have to master if you want to succeed at Fargo and Duals. You only have to score one point to win a period.

Pushing your opponent to the edge, sets up your offense. WRESTLE THE EDGE.

Before duals and Fargo you have to put in some time handfighting, and counter defense and offense near the edge. Watch big international matches or 2011 World Team Trials matches on you tube. There is lots of great action on the edge.
We have to make this a priority in our wrestling, we need work it this area as a state.

Drills to focus on: Whizzer kick drill. Snatch Single and drive out staying low/control drills. Push and guy to the edge hand fighting and then shooting him out of bounds or finishing in bounds depending on situation!!!

Sincerely, Eric Luedke

I am not saying the refs are bad either, I am saying some of them are to arrogant to change there calls or ask for the head ref when they are wrong or not sure. I damn near had to get physical with one of those refs.

Luckily, the head ref got on him for being wrong in many ways and apoligized for there actions.

I have never crapped lighting, but sparks I normally don't have, came out of me somewhere. I can garentee I will carry a rule book in my pocket the next time I coach.
