For those of you who are not subscriber's to Intermat, I am trying to get them to release the site for our forum. They have a policy to wait 10 days till releasing features for free. I would highly recommend the site anyway for up-to date coverage on all levels of wrestling.
In the interim, here are the Top 10 and Honorable Mention wrestlers. I worked very hard to analyze criteria and appreciate the input from across the state!
TOP TEN:
1. Matt Reed - Wichita Heights 2. Austin Hood - Louisburg 3. Reece Wright-Conklin - Lawrence 4. Bo Pursel - Lansing 5. Javier Vieyra - Salina South 6. Connor Middleton - Olathe Northwest 7. Alex Bontz - Andover Central 8. Dylan Schumacher - Thomas More Prep 9. Brandon Charbonneau - Emporia 10. Sam Son - Chanute
Honorable Mention: (alphabetically)
Luke Bean - KMC Ulyesses DeShazer - Wichita Heights Konnor Kriss - Colby Eric Mason - STA Justin McPhail - Liberal Tim Prescott - McPherson Aaron Seybold - Pittsburg T.J. Stokes - Gardner Colby Watters - Ark City Tommy Williams - STA

Miles was definitely in the mix. He was one of the last three wrestlers out. He's a fantastic athlete with an 87-27 career record and has had quality wins. I'm sure he will make a run at the title this year.

Lincoln Lemon of Goddard has 92 wins and has split with Dremel. Both also lost to D. DeShazer at last seasons state. Has split with Miles also although that was a ways back. Just exactly who was "in the mix" Chief? Sounds interesting.

Let’s see here in the last 3yrs Zac Dremel takes 3rd as a freshman and 3rd as a sophomore then a 2nd as a junior and nothing what’s up here? Heck he missed part of last season also, and still goes into your state finals. I guess with only a narrow decision in the finals this just isnt good enough.
There are some above that took a DNP in some of these seasons. Please explain.
Aaron Seybold just gets a honorable mention when he beat Charbonneau. I guess if it works for you. Spin it any way you want.

Bauerly Jerry, I will address both of your points. Consistantly you have made lopsided statements without clarifying them to strengthen your position. Let's address Seybold and Charbonneau. You state that Aaron "beat" Brandon. Let me say that I am one of Aaron's biggest fans. He beat Brandon 7-6 at regionals in folkstyle. They split at FS/GR state. The rankings in this article were heavily influenced by national competition results. Brandon is a 3X All-American. He has 24 Fargo wins. Dremel was actually the very next wrestler on the list. His 87.5% winning percentage was fantastic. His time off hurt a bit although he does have quality wins. He was deserving. I wish I could have made the list bigger.

Not a big deal or anything but just wondering how is a 3X State Champ below wrestles that have won state once or twice and one that is a great wrestler but has not won a state title yet? I'm guessing they are above him because of some National Tournaments. Its not a big deal i was just wondering and no matter if your #1 or an honorable mention its still a great accomplishment to of made this list!

These rankings, even more than the All-Class rankings, were based largely on national accomplishments. The wrestler that is ranked #5 has 23 Fargo wins and was a folkstyle NHSCA finalist at Virginia Beach. His two finals losses here in Kansas were both to Zac Gentzler. The last loss by one point. It was still a tough choice, knowing that the only three losses for the stud from TMP were also to quality wrestlers. We have some really tough guys that barely missed the top 20. Can't hardly wait till the first whistle! October 1 - Pre-Season All-Class Ranking November 7 - KWCA Pre-season Ranking November 21 - One week after practice starts - Pre-season ranking

Very nice article, thanks for posting Chief. It kind of looks like there is as much brains as brawn for the wrestlers on this top ten list. Very nice.

I love this list. But I love lists in general. Big Chief has some great lists. They are all interesting, informative and enjoyable. Everyone on the Class of 2012 list including the HM list is excellent and deserving of being "listed". Most are undisputed but not all probably. I believe there are others that could arguably be on the list. They should get some props as well in my opinion. The list to me is about where are they now, but perhaps more importantly, what is their potential at the next level namely college wrestling which is folkstyle. With that in mind, there could be just a smidge of too much emphasis on freestyle in some cases. Some of the best kids even at the college level never did FS/GR until college. Some seniors have just gotten into freestyle and really haven't had an opportunity to be recognized at Fargo. But Chief knows all that so no contradiction from me. He explained the list and its formation. I am not saying that the list is wrong or that freestyle is not a factor. Chief definitely is the authority as well and I 100% respect his selection. Like I said, I just like to see kids get their props and the more the merrier, to a point that is. Besides those mentioned already, Dremel, Johns and Lemon, I would throw out Chase Locke. Multiple kids state champion and 3x state medalist. He would definitely be on my list. At full strength, that guy is unstoppable. One of the best. Also Anthony Calderon must be mentioned. State champion, Kids state champion, 3x state medalist. Also will throw out Alex Wolfe, 3x state medalist. I welcome and would enjoy other input as well. And yes Chief, very nice article, thanks for posting and great to see the academic and other sport accalades.
