Again maize had a great tournament. But I have a question. How many times can a mother be permitted on the mat during a match. My son wrestled a nationally ranked kid and had him upset and crying in the first period to were he didnt want to wrestle anymore and his mother and iam guessing his dad[coach] had to get him back out there. twice in the first period. The whole time I think they weren't on injury time. I was told later that this same team from Oklahoma had people ejected from the tournament. We went throught the same thing from a different team from Oklahoma last year with a mother telling her son to rip his --- head off. If this is the way Oklahoma is I dont want to go. There was other things to but i was just wondering if that boy should have been disquilified for this. I expected more out of him and his perants. Am I wrong.

It was a very good day of wrestling. But there is one thing for sure,Your son showed up to kick some a--. That was some of the best wrestling I have seen all year. I wish it would of went down a little different. Your son went out and beat the TRINITY award winner for 2 3/4 periods. Devin has been working hard and it shows, also he wins with class and he loses with class.
Also your coaches showed a lot of class during the match. I would of flipped a lid, but they kept it together. I am glad they didnt forfiet, let them wrestle, show them how tough KANSAS is. I bet he doesn't come back thinking it will be an easy road.
Again great job to Devin

Thanks I wish it would have turned out a little different to. But thats wrestling. I would like to meet him again and iam sure the outcome would be a little different. I hope. It was hard to show restraint but I was glad that everybody on our side did. Thanks again to you and to maize. It was fun. I found out that we can compete with the best. Maybe we will see everybody in some national tourn.

Both of your sons would do well and be great representatives of Kansas.

Yes some of us moms do get crazy and yes we all sometimes get out of line, but excuse me dads I believe you all get just as stupid and crazy and sometimes it is us moms calming you down!! Those are our babies down there winning or losing and as a mom it is extremely hard either way to not be there and do anything about it and you say our boys or girls can not hear us you are crazy they can pick our voice out of everyones and yes sometimes it hurt them or embrasses them but also sometimes it is the voice they need to hear to get them moving to know that someone loves them so much and it turns around!! We are their parents isn't that what we do !!! encourage and embrasses them !! Now if they are out of line and telling there child to hurt the other kid or saying crap that should not be said they need to be removed by their childs coach, secruity, or tournament director!! then other actions need to be taken to make it change but alot of mothers also have to go mat side to record their sons or daughters because of the conjestion around the mat this helps kids see what they need to work on to get better at practice and tournaments each week!!!

Iam not saying mothers shouldn't yell or film matside. But when they walk out on the mat in the middle of a match to get their child to wrestle and give them drink is not right. I understand if the child is hurt but when they are crying because they are getting beat then it should be the coaches responsibility not a mothers. That is why they are coaches. Let them do there job. I know that it isnt just mothers it is fathers to. All I was saying is that they shouldnt be in the middle of a mat be matside not on the mat. I am for yell and screaming all you want. Embarras all you want I like watching that to. Plus say rude commints to us my son and the coaches then something needs to be done to stop that. That is why some clubs have closed practices. To keep mouthy know it all parents out so coaches can do their job the bests they can do without parents looking over their shoulder.

I enjoy reading this forum, and while I don't officiate kids tournaments, I'm thinking maybe I should for a year or two just to eject a few hundred crazed parents. Are you kidding me? If a parent came onto the mat...literally stepped foot on the mat, that match would be over. Maybe 6U if it was for a diaper change, but other than that...DQ.

I agree no parents should be in the middle of the mat that is the coaches job and I absolutely that is the refs and coaches fault for allowing that to happen !!!

Perhaps you just mistitled this post? I have seen many crazy Mom's AND Dad's matside. Any parent who is on the mat and misbehaving should be asked to leave. I have been matside during all of my sons' matches. I have had my coach's card, Bronze card and I'll even throw in a teaching certificate and an ungodly amount of time spent with children under the age of 12. I have coached baseball, softball & soccer. But as a Wrestling Mom, if I yell (which is rare) I repeat what the coach says to my kid. I am like eeboysmom, I think that my kid hears my voice over all others because he is used to hearing me. I encourage sportsmanship in my son. I tell him to treat every wrestler he encounters as if he/she were the best wrestler in the state. (He'll tell you this!) My son went through several seasons of rough behavior when he lost a match - I dealt with this off the mat and out of the gym because it was not tolerated by me. He's self-motivated and his own toughest critic. My point... please don't limit your crazy parent status to just Moms!
