Here is the information and calendar for this year's Schoolboy Duals tournament. You must be born in 1998 or 1999 to participate. The weight classes and dates are listed below.

The tournament is held in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 6-June 10. We hold an overnight camp at St. James HS in Lenexa on June 3-June 5.

This is this year's flyer:

2012 Kansas Schoolboy Freestyle/Greco Dual Team
-We are now preparing for the 2012 Kansas Schoolboy Duals, held June 6th – June 10th in Indianapolis, Indiana. Schoolboy Duals is an exciting opportunity for your young wrestler to grow and mature as a young man and a wrestler.
-This is a very tough national competition. Team Kansas finished 7th in Greco in 2010, and 9th in 2011, the highest placing Kansas has ever received at this tournament.

-We conduct a 2 or 3 day overnight camp in the Kansas City area, then board vans to travel to Indiana for the tournament. We stay in hotels, with 4 adult coaches/chaperones supervising the athletes.

-You must be born in 1998 or 1999 to be eligible to participate.

-The weight classes are: 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 120, 128, 136, 144, 152, 160, 175, 190, 210, 265

-Each wrestler will receive 2 custom designed Team Kansas singlets, two custom designed tshirts, and a pair of shorts, all designed by Blue Chip Athletics.

- Once delivered to Kansas City, all lodging, transportation, meals, and equipment/apparel is provided by Team Kansas.

-The 2012 National Schoolboy duals give you the opportunity to wrestle up to 15 or more matches in 4 days! It’s a great learning experience and a lot of fun. Please email me with any questions or interest, and I will be contacting many of you as well or talking with you at upcoming tournaments. If you know any other wrestlers born in 1998 or 1999 that are interested have them give me a call or e-mail as well. I will be at many of the upcoming tournaments and will see you there.

Good luck in all your wrestling, and let’s make the 2012 Kansas National Schoolboy team one of the best and make some noise this summer.

Schoolboy Duals Selection Criteria: I get asked every year about criteria. Generally, head to head is first criteria. Sometimes, we also consider other criteria, such as:

1. One wrestler has one dominant move, but other wrestler scores more points otherwise.
2. Lack of FS/GR experience.
3. Second year team members generally automatic invitation.
4. We reserve the right to select, using subjective criteria.

This is a tough area to deal with. Often, we have 4-6 kids at one weight and all are good wrestlers. Other weights we have no wrestlers at all. Remember, this is a very, very tough national tournament and we have to take the group that we think will perform the best. Good luck to all.

We might be interested, how much is it going to cost to be able to go per athlete? Can't afford to send if it is a hardship.

Schoolboy Team Members Announcements:

1. Our camp will begin at St. James High School in Lenexa on Sunday, June 3. Registration is between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Sunday. This is an overnight camp, we will be there Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, working out, sleeping, showering and eating at the school. The wrestlers cannot leave without permission, and all is included. They will need sleeping bags, etc. to stay in the room at night. I will send all a complete list tomorrow of what to bring.

2. Some of our boys are at Dodge City wrestling in Southern Plains. As of today, there are several parents/coaches who will be at Dodge City and can help transport your wrestler to St. James. Coaches Knox, Gonzales and Ms. Wallace are available to help in that regard. I also think Will Cokeley will have a van and has some room, so parent do not have to make that 5 hour drive if they do not want to. I will have information on that tomorrow as well. The S. Plains wrestlers probably will arrive at St. James on Sunday very late or Monday sometime.

3. Indy details. We stay at Dollar Inn in Greenfield, which is 20/25 minutes from the venue because it is the cheapest hotel we could find. It is about $40 for a double bed room, it is clean but very simple place, nice people run it. I have rooms reserved under my name and have some for parents. If you want me to reserve you a room, please let me know. You will not have to make arrangements with the hotel, other than you will pay them when you get there. I also have a couple of chaperone spots available. We put 3 wrestlers and one parent in every room, and we have 5 coaches, so that will leave 2 chaperone spots open. I charge $10 per night for the room if you would like to chaperone, so please let me know there.

4. I also need a couple of parents to help with our camp at St. James, for food prep and maybe being a chaperone. Please let me know if you are interested, it is between Sunday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 6, please let me know if you are interested in helping at the camp.

I will contact all by tomorrow, and will email/post our camp/Indy info sheets.

Are the kids on the roster all supposed to go to the camp and duals both or is the camp more of a tryout than practice

This is the 2012 Schoolboy Duals Schedule:

The following is our schedule. Please make arrangements to attend our camp, starting Sunday, June 3 at St. James Academy in Lenexa, KS. St. James is located at 24505 Prairie Star Parkway Lenexa, KS 66227. This is about ½ mile West of K-7 highway, and the wrestling room is on the Southeast corner of the building. The camp will run for two and one-half days, and will be coached by Pat Kelly, Tyler Gonzales, Tom Williams, Charlie Knox, Shawn Budke and other clinicians. We will feed, chaperone and supervise the boys from the time you drop them off until we return to St. James on Sunday evening, June 10.
This year our camp schedule is different, to accommodate the wrestlers who will be wrestling at Southern Plains in Dodge City. Therefore, some of our wrestlers and coaches will not be arriving until sometime Monday, maybe late Monday night.

Camp/Indy gear list:

All wrestling gear, shoes, headgear (required), etc.
Wrestling bag and an additional suitcase.
Sleeping bag, pillow for St. James camp.
Toiletries, towel, washcloth.
Enough workout clothes for 6-8 workouts.
(We will have laundry facilities available at St James and Indy,
as is necessary).

Spending money (we provide all food, but the wrestlers usually want a
Tournament souvenir or snacks to and from).
