bockover... you must have finished off that whole 12 pack you owe me, if you think there is TIME to seed every single bracket. many of these kids never wrestle head to head, so you would rather leave it up to an opinion, rather than a uniform way to draw the brackets??? yeah.......that'll turn out good.

high school is the same way, so get used to it, and make sure your son understands now. we can't have kids quit this sport, simply because they feel they didn't have the best draw to win a state championship. if that's the case he should be hungry when he gets to HS

at the end of the day, only one wrestler is undefeated..... the champion. the other 5 get on the wood, but still haven't reached the top. they should be proud, but not completely satisfied.

Like I have said in previous post, that his what is great about the sport of wrestling it is not won on paper it is won on the mat mano-a-mano. If you want to blame someone else for not placing 1st or 2nd play a team sport like basketball, where there are others to blame for your loss. JMO

First, ask my kids what I say second place is. They will tell you it's the winner of the losers. But I have a smile on my face when I say that.

Second, I don't 100% believe that. Maybe some of you really do, but in reality, we treat 2nd differently than 3rd. When talking about coaches who are conducting camps, we see the phrase "runner-up" as a reason to send your kid to the camp. We put second place on the podium just slightly above all the other placers. In short, it is winner of all the losers and it is almost the best.

I don't buy into the "you have to beat the best, so who cares where you are seeded." That is why tourneys are seeded, to get the 2 best on opposite sides so they don't face each other until the finals. I think this is the right way to do it in any sport. If you disagree, then you should advocate abandoning all seeding.

But you will never be able to do this at State. Too many ages, weight classes, and districts. What is a solution for one is a problem for another.

It would be nice to have your top two wrestlers on opposite sides at State, but no system will realistically be able to do it.

This is just a personal opinion & the wrestlers on the other side might & probably will prove that you were sadly mistaken.

Its not the seeding that I have a problem with. It parents wanting to keep wrestling to get there kid on what they see as the softest side of the bracket

This I agree with

at the end of the day only one wrestlers is undefeated. there is no system to change that. like mr. geyer said there are other sports that compete through a true double elimination, wrestling is simply too grueling to make that happen.
