Wrestling Community-

I am looking for suggestions on how to take film from competitions and make it easily available for my athletes (and coaches) to access and review later. I was planning on using Flo, but just got an e-mail tonight saying they are no longer supporting this service. Does anyone out there use another system? I know Hudl is popular- especially with the football folks but it has some issues, one of them is cost.

Has anyone used an app called "Coaches eye"? I've heard some good things about it- but not from wrestling people, track and baseball people primarily.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Burlington High School started using HUDL (www.hudl.com) and like this option. Video breakdown, e-mails to students when video is uploaded. Web based. Has apps for iPhone and can play on Droid.

Colby uses Hudl for all sports. It is pricey and has a few issues, but we like it overall.

I've been e-mailing with Martin at Flo this morning and Flo is still available to share videos. But they will want you to have a technique wave and FloInsider subrscription, which will run about $250/year.

If someone has something else that is on the cheaper side, we'd love to hear it!

We have NOT used this one, but I keep getting e-mails from this company. They have what they are saying is a product cheaper than HUDL that you can get on a monthly basis. Details below:

I've included a video to show you how easy TeamHomeField.com is to use, and how it can help you and your team this season. We give you the tools to breakdown film, share it with your team, and send it to ANY coach in the country. All starting at $30/month; pay only for the months you use it.

You can start a free account yourself today. Looking forward to hearing from you - 516.234.0412.

Paul,

Thanks for the clarification. It stinks that Flo will now cost $250 per year, but is CHEAP in comparison to Hudl with an individual sport low level subscription running over $1000 per year. Our football team pays $3000 for just them to get the highest level of support and data storage.

The only other thing I've heard of is the iPad app called Coacheseye. It is a $5 app and says it has the ability to share video- don't know anyone who has tried it at the level I am wanting to use it for. I may download it just to see how it works.

Yikes, we were considering looking at Hudl as well. However, if it's that expensive maybe te $250 is actually a good deal. Let me know how the iPad app comes out.

I'm not sure but I think we get an multi-sport rate for Hudl that makes it more affordable.

Kyle-
This may not be an option for you guys this far into the year, but maybe it is...Like Coach Williams mentioned for them, we got our A.D. to do a HUDL subscription for the entire building last year-all sports included. He sprang for the difference between just the fb one and including everyone. The proviso was that it be used, otherwise he'd cancel the overall thing after a year. Wrestling used it, both boys and girls bball, baseball and softball all used it(oh and volleyball too). It was a really good system for us, as people pointed out above, and allowed us a lot of flexability in how to use and present film.

If you're interested, you could have Ortman give our A.D. a call.

We also use Hudl at Hillsboro using the "all-sports" discounted option & it seems all of the coaches like it. Prior to our school getting on board with Hudl, I used an online video sharing site called "Watch Game Film"...watchgamefilm.com. It worked fairly well and was $99/year I believe. The upload process took some time, but much like Hudl, it automatically emailed team members to notify them that new video was available. You could also upload documents, photos, etc...not bad for the price, but some buffering issues if you don't have a strong Internet connection.

thanks for all the feed back. My experience with Hudl last year wasn't great- but it may have been on our end with the limitations in technology we had (getting updated software installed, etc).

I did look into their pricing plans and there are less expensive plans for additional sports.

Here is another option my AD told me about today our basketball teams were looking at going to it.

http://www.krossover.com/film-room.php

For Football, Basketball, and Lacrosse you upload film and it breaks it down for you. It seems considerably cheaper than Hudl esp. if they do the stats work for you.

For all other sports they have a FREE service called Film room, which I think is basically what I am looking for- a place to upload videos and share them with the team. I'll probably check it out in the next few days or so.

Thanks again for the feed back!
