Here is a little something to go on where Dieckman of ACCHS is concerned. Granted it is not exactly head to head but
Dieckman ACCHS beat Henes Aquinas at Eudora
Henes Aquinas beat Jacob Gentry of Rossville at Eudora.
Jacob Gentry beat Reiss of Rock Creek at Mission valley.
Reiss of Rock Creek beat Alec Hager of Norton 8-4 at Clay center.
Hager is ranked #2. looks
like Chief Renegade has it right!
Yes, all valid points that I brought up earlier, but when you look at the entire picture it gets a little fuzzy.
Reiss was the regional champion in the same regional bracket last season that Dieckmann failed to qualify to state out of and Reiss went on to place 6th at state.
Hager placed 4th last year at state at 126. Dieckmann sat at home or in the stands while the state tournament was going on.
As for Gentry's win over Reiss at Mission Valley, when you look at the results it shows a fall in 39 seconds. I'm guessing that Reiss was thrown in a headlock, which in some cases can be seen as getting caught depending on the circumstances. I'm going to view it as such due to the track record that both wrestlers have had in the past few seasons.
I think that if anything the above statement shows Reiss deserves to be ranked in 4A. I'd say he should be the 4th ranked wrestler over Miller of Buhler, who beat Dieckmann at Eudora and did not place in 4A last season. However, I do not handle the 4A rankings or the All-Class Rankings so I'll leave those decisions to Eric Johnson.
My philosophy for rankings are equal parts what have you done for me (i.e. at the State Tournament and on the National level) and what have you done for me lately.
Lately, Dieckmann has wrestled very well, but I can't overlook the past entirely. He will most likely be in the rankings, I just can't put him as high as #2 for now.
