I have followed the AC rankings for some time now. And I have agreed and disagreed with them with the best of us on here. I do concur that the rankings really don't mean anything until the state finals are over. Myself personally feel some people get uptight about these rankings, as a couple of our all star teams rely on these rankings. Of course everyone thinks their kid is the best if he is on the AC list. BUT until we have a Grand State tournament we will NEVER know who is the best at each weight. (But this is another topic)
The rankings do mean something now and they will mean something in the end. They won't necessarily mean more or less, its' just that in the end we will determine which rankings are verified and which are refuted. Like I said, there is a good reason the kids are ranked where they are. In most cases, I am going with the rankings. I estimate they are no less than 90% accurate perhaps even 95%. But just wait and say. I bet that in the end, you will see that in most cases, the rankings were right.
I don't think anyone is getting too uptight. They are just enjoying themselves and playing along, and that is just what Chief expects. And aside from having some kind of qualifier, the rankings should be and need to be used to determine all star teams. If we didn't have rankings, we would still need a way to determine who is selected. With the rankings, at least we can see that process developing and understand and see the reasoning behind why particular selections were made.
And we certainly don't need a Grand State to determine who is the best in most cases.
