In what case? If your goal is just to go to state, or to place, then depth is everything. Explain that to all the 1234A kids that would have made it to state if they would have been wrestling 5 and 6A. I know of an actual situation where the 4a kid that would have been either 5th or 6th place at the Tonganoxie tourney would have most likely won the 5A regional at Seaman.I am sure that there are many cases as such. Also, this kid, and I would be willing to bet could beat half or more of all the kids that made it to state in 5 and 6A.
I don't know of any 123A kids that "would have" made it to state if they were in 5A or 6A although I must concede there are surely some, but I did hear that the GC heavyweight didn't qualify this year in a pitiful 6A bracket but did last year in 123A. And you just heard about Ark City's kid that was undefeated in 123A last year and this year has about 10 loses and didn't win the pitiful 5A regional. For every kid you could come up with from 1234A that "could have" placed in 56A there is a kid from 56A that "could have" placed in 1234A. Its really just time for everyone to get over the "weaker regional/state" thing. They are all tough lets say and it just depends on the weight and the year in a lot of cases. But it seems to be clear that the bigger schools generally have tougher schedules so everyone needs to get over the record thing as well.
