Went to the seeding meeting today and it looked like a cockroach infested house when the lights come on. Kids were scattering like a bunch of cockroaches running from competition. We need to call an exterminator. Until then good luck ROACHES.

Releasing the info early allows parents to move kids around. This is a unfair advantage. Its unfair to the wrestlers that dont try to run to a perceived easier bracket. Why they release the info early knowing people will do this baffles me. I know that they want all the info right but is there a better way?

I don't care who moves where at seeding, BUT...... Why are the entries not published now? Does this add something by not publishing entries after the entry deadline?

I figured out how to get rid of the roaches. Clean House and Stop Feeding them. We need to Clean the State Wrestling House and Quit Feeding these Roaches by letting them see where the competition is. Enter a weight and wrestle that weight.

Ok,usually I just like to make 1 post and stir everything up up and watch the fun. And usually I agree with Beeson. but.... I started the kshsaa post because my 8th grade son had a high school placer that would be in his state bracket. That being said my son wrestled all high school kids and beat the said high school placer twice and took 3rd at bishop carroll. So that proves Mr. Beeson's point. There is a rule in place that that allows weight changes at seeding meetings. People are allowed to move weights. They take advantage of this rule for their advantage. So how is this different Beeson? People changing weight up or down is just part of wrestling to use the rules to a wrestler's advantage. My son thought he could make 110lbs a few weeks ago but now he walks around at 122lbs. So, is he running by moving up from 14u 110lbs to 115lbs 14u? Look at both brackets and you tell me. Then tell me if it it is a good idea to call these kids roaches.

I don't have to look at the brackets to know that you guys moved into a tougher bracket, I know the weight and ages well. I still stand by my roaches comment. Now with that said, if you are not a roach and not running from competition the comment was not about you or your kid. My comment is for those who did run from competition, and there were alot more that ran to easier brackets than jumped into tougher.
There is a rule that allows the roaches to move. The rule was put into place to allow for growth of a wrestler, if the wrestler was accidentally put in the wrong weight or the wrong age group, or if a wrestler was accidentally not signed up. The rule for the most part is now being taken advantage of by Roaches. I would be all for allowing kids to move for these reasons, but to do this the State needs to stop posting the entrants before the seeding meetings. Make the deadline the friday before the seeding meeting. They sign up friday and seed Sunday without looking at the brackets.

Who are the roaches? The kids or the parents? As Randy said in my bronze clinic years ago, prepare the wrestler for the path not the path for the wrestler.

Nice call it would definately be the parents. The scary part is Roaches will teach the easy path for the kids, in turn making the kids roaches later in life. Roaches breed other Roaches.

Just the clarify what Chad is saying, the problem is not the ability to move a kid to a different weight. The problem is people being able to see the entries prior to the seeding meeting. For that matter there is no reason to see anyone else's entries other than your own club's. I have said the same about even invitationals. If I am wrong about what Chad is saying I apologize.

Seems unfair to me, but I wont lose any sleep over it

Seems unfair to me, but I wont lose any sleep over it If I'm not mistaken, it started as a result of some districts opening their entries prior to seeding and others not. Some people complained and in a effort to keep all districts doing the same thing in regards to qualifiers all were required to do so. All of these efforts to keep all districts doing things exactly the same is ridiculous. What works for one district does not necessarily work for another. As long as one district doesn't have an unfair advantage in doing something then they each should be allowed to do their own thing.

I don't see it that way at all. The 14 are wrestling their age group, no running, no hiding, just wrestling their age group. The Roaches are picking a weight and then saying oh crap, I don't want to wrestle the competition, RUN RUN RUN.

By this time kids know who to completion will be and a pretty good idea what weight they will be at. I wouldn't bet there were that many kids moving for that reason.
Now any idea when those seeding be.coming out

yeah see where some middle school kids wrestled at a certain weight then dropped down as well. its ok there is no where to run come state time. like they say its not how many kids championships you end up with. its how many highschool championships you end up with.
