Not in Silver Lake. Big liability issue.

who are you trying to get in trouble and why?
KSHSAA does not allow kids not on the HS roster to workout in a HS practice during the HS season. My understanding is that during a club practice KSHSAA has no say (thankfully) except that HS coaches can not coach HS kids until the summer. (which is a real stupid rule that I can and have gone off on rants before but...)

This is what we did...once HS season was over my 7th grade son worked out with whatever club kids were around his age and ability (or hopefully even way better than him). During HS season he was not allowed to practice with us...obviously.
It would have been stupid for me to not have my 150 middle school kid (who is decent) roll around with our 145 and 152 pound HS state placers. right?

That is exactly what open rooms are all about.

Most of the people reading this forum know why.

Mr Mahan your son is a little bit better than "decent"

What is the penalty for getting caught? Subject came up in a conversation over the weekend. I have a friend and his 6'4" 250lb nephew is moving here from Iowa. He's only in the 7th grade.

thanks, but that is mostly due to Fiss and Weaver working out with him the last two years. (during the spring and summer only of course)
hey send me a pm with the reason why cause I don't know and am kind of bored today.

... and on an associated topic, a high school coach can have no one working with those on his team other than bonafide KSHSAA coaches!

From my understanding that means no alumni, no kids club coaches, etc..

Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?

yea I have started to assumed that if I have an idea (especially outside the box) that will help develop wrestlers better, faster etc...that KSHSAA probably has a rule against it. lol jk but seriously.

What most kids club level lack is endurance and core strengthening during their MS development, because community kids clubs hesitate to work up a sweat on the kids for lack of losing them in the sport.

Kansas is making great strides in youth development I would like to see our kids federation become stronger like other states that are dominating. We're allowing KSHSAA to hold development behind at least 3-5 years when we look nationwide. We have to get on board somehow, someway.

And I can name 5 wrestlers that i could throw under the bus easily. .....Let's get it started!!!!!!

This is the first I have heard that KSHSAA is holding us back. How are they doing that and what can we do to stop it?

I haven’t quite figured it out yet , but I’m sure KSHSAA is somehow responsible for global warming.

Check out what Pennsylvania & Ohio coaches are able to do with their HS teams off season and within season.

In State College, PA the kids tuition is actually paid for by to join the Nittany Lions Wrestling Club or other elite programs within the school district by the School District. Happy Valley at its best. PA = Wrestling Culture --> large # D1 Wrestling Schools.

Enlighten us, what can they do?

I can't say for sure, but I haven't seen any KSHSAA rule that would prohibit your school district from doing the same. Of course the school district in such a case would likely end up using my tax dollars for some other sports I do not support and wouldn't want to pay for. That I would have a problem with.

Sportsfan its just as easy for you to copy and paste as it is for me. Google it. I.m on a smartphone watching our Middle Schooler's and am in Vegas at 1038 in the morning thru Wednesday with meetings after that I'd be happy to "cut & paste" to enlighten you.

Sportsfan, can u or anyone for that matter tell me what the reasonings are behind the high-school coaches staying with their team and training during off seasons is? And kids training with high-school team? I'm a reasonable man just can't see the problem.

I was in Ohio last summer at a camp with my son and we arrived several hours before the camp started and when we got there the whole highschool team was lifting weights and training with the coach and after that they were off too practice in July? Why cant we get those kind of rules in Kansas?
