Chief.....
i have no issue with teams traveling to wrestle. Seeing the same faces week after week is not good for anybody. I dislike the arrogance when teams say we are traveling to get better competiton.
and if you are going to do it pack up your whole damn team and go wrestle. And if you dont think you have any competion...look around and find it...wrestle up / down. (I think the other post called it the Olsen Way.)
I do not want anymore good teams leaving Eudora. This year it was one split / jv team. next year it will be three...then four. JV teams waterdown the brackets.
The "Olsen way"... I applaud Michael but he is hardly the leader or pioneer. For newbies on here you may not know or if you don't care to recall, SJA was soundly chastised for moving up Ryne Cokeley and Taylor Moeder in various "IN STATE" tournaments just a few years ago. Heck, Ryne was a 140lber wrestling 152 his senior year. SJA knows how to find competition and to get better. I gave you the explanation why the line ups were the way they were this weekend yet you still criticize? Who cares what team you send? It is the prerogative of the coach and NO tournament contract states that you MUST bring your best kids and fill every weight. Heck, only 3 teams had 14 wrestlers in Eudora this weekend! JW, Kansas is NOT the best state and we all know this. Iowa is better, OK is usually better. They both sport far more D1 wrestlers coaching in their HS programs. Both states have multiple D1 opportunities to move on into after HS. I don't think anyone's feelings are being hurt when it is being stated that we travel to find better competition. Heck, look at the results for every KS tournament where out of state teams are invited. At Gardner last week three of the top four were from out of state. When was the last time a KS team won the Bobcat? Almost every year an out of state team wins Garden City. Newton has invited just one out of state team the past two years (Tulsa Union 2012 and Grand Island 2013) and both won their tournament. (BTW, Grand Island was in Council Bluffs this weekend. Bill doesn't count them as a hammer but they won one of the best tournaments KS has to offer in state...)
