We sometimes get into a debate around here whether or not the year it was snowed out (1992-93) should be counted! so, this year is the 49th year it is scheduled to be held, but the 48th year it will have been wrestled (weather looks good this weekend!).
In January and February, 1993 we had significant snow on a weekly basis. We tried to get the tournament in in '93; started moving snow on Friday evening, but as fast as we pushed it, the wind filled it back in. We called off the snow removal efforts about 9:30 p.m. and called off the tournament. By daylight on Saturday we had 12+ inches. . . and it was still snowing; it quit snowing in the early morning. . .but then the wind REALLY picked up!!! I went up to the school to put things away and got stuck going into the parking lot in my little 2WD Dodge D-50 pick-up. It was a snow storm, truly.
