The sunflower league tourney is approaching wrestling fans. There are some good teams here and it will be a good fight for first. Any comments on champs and results?

It is the Sunflower League Tournament. Probably not a real big concern for you, but here are the teams (6A):
Lawrence
Lawrence Free State
Leavenworth
Olathe East
Olathe North
Olathe South
Shawnee Mission East
Shawnee Mission North
Shawnee Mission Northwest
Shawnee Mission South
Shawnee Mission West

It should be a pretty tough tournament in quite a few weight classes.
I think that the Lawrence schools will be tough, along with OE and OS. I don't know a lot about many SM schools, but I bet it will be pretty close.

119: Chino/Suh/Miller
125: Sielert?
130: Sielert?/Bartels/Burdick/Miller
135: Sultani
140: Bogart
145: Clayton/Ecker/Kammerrer
152: --
160: Fitzgerald/Bartlett
171: Salvoni

Sorry to all you Lawrence, LFS, and Leav. guys, but i don't really know any of you and obviously this is a pretty rough sketch.

Are you sure Sielert's going to 125 for league? You have to count Schoffner in the mix at 152, apperently he's pretty good, too. Also, what about the upper weights (171, 189, 275) who all is there besides the obvious?
Team champs?

Okay we've figured out the individual champions. What about the team champion? There aren't any big gun sunflower teams this year. So who's going to win it.

Here's my scouting report:

SMW- pretty solid team, could win through the back door

SMS- can't leave out last years champs plus they got some guns (Stewart,Ali,Ben,Nick)

SME- has a chance to have 3 or 4 champions but doesn't have alot of support in the backdoor

OS-pretty solid team, but chino and sielert can't win the tournment by themselves. Upper weights need to step it up. But overall a solid team.

OE-Can't leave them out of the mix after the up-set they pulled last Friday again OS.

Freestate- don't know much about them this year...but they have a solid program so you can't leave them out of the picture.

(Its going to be a dog fight boys)

Does anyone know how good Freestate and/or Lawrence are this year?

ENJOY!!!

Lawrence free state is pretty good and was ranked in state for a while. Their best wrestlers are schnoffer, somers, franks, mcgovern and the hw(name escapes me). Lawrence high isnt as loaded at all. They have hultine, medill and poverlien to carry the team, but that is pretty much it.

By the way, whats ur name T. Tuckness and what school do u go to? I only ask because everyone seems to know me but i dont know anyone on the forum.

ur name)? Also, I think LFS Hvy.'s name might be Steinbeck. Bartels, I don't your giving us enough credit, man. We(OE) are definitley in contention for the team championship.

And I think I can answer the question for Aaron; he uses the name T.Tuckness because he knows it strikes fear into all those you hear or see it.

Legitimate contenders at 125 are kenny aubrey sms, matt somers freestate, jess owens smnw, and ryan parks on. Just placing top four will be difficult.

I do believe it is Steinbeck from lfs. good call on that one. you guys r underrated but definitely have a chance for the title.

Also i heard that ur 103, Andy Carlson, broke his arm or something? Any truth to that?

Huff Deezey.

I thought so. I wonder if there is any relation to John Steinbeck (he's an author Pat).

He broke his leg, it was gruesome on video. The kid is a stud though. He broke it at the end of the second period in a match vs. Clinton, MO (or some other Missouri school) and finished the match without any points being scored on him. The kid he was wrestling wasn't a quar, either.

Steinbeck from LFS is 215, at least he was a Basehor. He is ranked 6th in state (I think)
