Colorado seeds their state tournament by looking at the numbers ones 1st. Returning state points is the #1 criteria followed by head to head and so forth. They then seed the #2s by state points and making sure they are on opposite sides of their Regionals #1s. Then the rest is seeded if and only if they have state points from the past if not they are seeded based on their number ones and twos. This process works out really well and is not hard to do. CHSAA does all of the seeding with no arguments from the coaches.

Not that we should do things like Colorado, but they also place top 6 wrestlers at Regionals and they wrestler back for a true 4th ensuring the best four wrestlers go. This also helps when injuries and ineligibles happen, the number 5 from the same regional replaces the missing wrestler. This makes sure there are never byes at the state tournament.
