We have two Bronze clinics on the calendar for this season!

The first is October 12th beginning at 10 am at the Silver Lake HS! The local club will be accepting donations for a light meal!

The next is part of a 2-day Coaches Clinic, hosted by Northwest Kansas Tech in Goodland!! It will be held, October 25th and 26th ... a flyer for this package will be coming out soon! But a USAW Bronze clinic will be Saturday, October 25th, and begins at noon!

Remember, everyone taking the clinic must first have a USAW Coaches Membership card! And, you must have an accepted and current background check before you can apply for the card!!

There is a helpful page on usawks.org ... go to the programs drop down and select "coaches!"

The content of the Bronze clinic will be substantially different from the past years! Expect, a lot more intensive data!

Also ... coaches will be taking the test "in-house" so that should clear up some hurdles.

Coaches, in Kansas, you will still need to go through your local club to purchase your USAW Coaches Membership card! Our clubs want to keep this bit of control, over who is allowed to coach for their clubs, so you have to register through them!!

Hopefully this clears a bit of confusion in trying to access the Membership system!!

We are only 3 weeks out from the 1st Bronze clinic of the season! If you are planning to attend the Silver Lake or Goodland clinics, please e-mail the clinician and let him know you are attending!!

The Flyer for the Silver Lake Clinic says that you have to have your USAW Coaches membership at the time of the bronze clinic. I thought that you couldn't get the Coaches membership until you had completed the bronze clinic.

... the flyer is correct!! You must have your background and your current USAW Coaches membership card before you attend the clinic!!

We had 22 coaches attend the Bronze training is Silver Lake!!

Next Saturday, the 25th, we will bring the clinic to Goodland!! NWKTC is holding a 2-day clinic for coaches!! There flyer is on this site!!

Remember, Saturday the 25th, we will have a clinic in Goodland!!

Before you take the class you must do the step below. So about a month to get everything done and turn it into your club director so they can order your coaches card.

It is that time of the year again for background checks. At least it is for me. Every other year coaches are required to do this BEFORE you can purchase a coaches card.

STEP #1 - Background Check and email to club saying you passed

I think the fee is now $15 it use to be $17.

Coaches are required to complete a background check every two years. Before issuing a current coaches' card, your club will require you to provide proof that you have passed the background check. The cost of the background check is $15. Here are the instructions on what you need to do to complete your background check:

Go to www.usawmembership.com.

Sign in or create a new account.

3.
Click 'Profile' in the upper right corner of the screen and choose 'BG Check History' near the top of the screen. Please note that you will be required to use a different user id and password in the background check website - do not try to use your USA Wrestling user id and password.

4.
After completing the background check, do not attempt to purchase a membership online. This feature is disabled for Kansas coaches.

STEP #2 - Club orders your coaches card

After the background check is complete you will receive an email notice indicating whether or not you have successfully passed the background check. Provide this confirmation notice to the club director, who will then be able to purchase your coaches' membership from the state office.

Any plans for a bronze clinic in the wichita area or further south?

No one has stepped up to host a clinic in the Wichita area!!

I sent Mike Juby and Randy Hinderliter a proposal to host one down here in the Wichita area two possible weekends in November. Proposed three different venues Rose Hill High School, Cabella’s Conference Room, and McConnell AFB. Hopefully we can get one down here and great timing before tournaments all start this season.

With a great assist from MRGRAPPLER, we can start penciling in a Bronze clinic for Saturday, November 29th, in Rose Hill!! We should know in a few days for sure!!

On an associated note: we still have a few club people sending coaches to get their training WITHOUT a USAW Coaches membership card!! Again, coaches MUST have a membership card before they take the Bronze clinic!!

... it is confirmed!! We will be in the Rose Hill library on Saturday, November 29th!!
