Someone last week in a post asked about Kansas wrestlers at the NJCAA National Championships and I will report on the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College wrestlers from Kansas. (Don't know much about the other wrestlers from Kansas, I will leave that report up to the so called "experts" that posed the question).

Team National Champions for 2016-Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College with 152.5 points and nine All-Americans, including three National Champions. Second place was Iowa Central with 128 points.

Kansas NEO All-Americans:
125 lbs. freshman Logan Terrill, Ark City, seventh place and finished the freshman year 28-18.
133 lbs. freshman Curtis Burnett, Independence, fourth place and finished the year at 34-17.
184 lbs. redshirt sophomore, Jacob Hill, Augusta, fourth place and finished the year at 34-16.
Also:
165 lbs. freshman Saul Ortiz, Wichita Northwest went 0-2 and did not place.

Other NEO All-Americans:

141 lbs. Mitchell Sellers, fifth place and also won the Most Falls in Least Amount of Time.
149 lbs. Kristian Holguin-Mendez, fourth place (now a 2X AA)
157 lbs. Dawaylon Barnes, National Champion
174 lbs. Jacobe Smith, National Champion (2X National Champion) Also named the Most Outstanding Wrestler.
197 lbs. Josh Latham, eighth place
285 lbs. Blake Andrews, National Champion

Coach Joe Renfro, a Kansas high school product and long time Labette CC coach, was also voted by the coaches as the NJCAA National Coach of the Year.

Congratulations to the NEO Kansas wrestlers on a great year and also best of luck and congratulations to all the other Kansas wrestlers that will be participating in the NAIA, D3, D2, D1 National Tournaments. Be Proud of your roots and represent Kansas well!!
