Just from your brief description, it sounds like you either don't have QuickTime installed or the QuickTime MIME settings are not configured correctly. Both of these we can fix pretty easily.
You said you have a new computer, so you should be fine. One problem we have encountered is that QuickTime does not run on Microsoft Windows 95. That doesn't seem to be your problem.
