Edited Remark (I just noticed that this topic was introduced in May 2002 so this topic was addressing the 2002 State Tournament Year. I got confused when it popped up at the top of the topics in November 2002. The following is my early assessment of this potential age and weight group for the upcoming 2003 tournament year.)

This is some wild speculation because how do you even know who is going to end up in this weight class. It has caught my interest though since I'm pretty sure that my son is going to end up in this one this year. So here are some other wrestlers who need to be considered in the hunt if they end up in this weight group that I know of and what I believe their recent records are (I mostly know District 1).

Dustin Moses (Maize): 2002 3rd at State, 12 & under 120, 2001 1st at State, 10 & Under 100, 2000 2nd at State 10 & under 85, 1999 1st at State 76 & Under 8 & under

Boaz Beard (Valley Center) although I would guess he will end up at a lighter weight : 2002 6th at State 12 & under 105, 2001 2nd at State 10 & under 110, 2000 1st at State 10 & under 95, 1999 1st at State 8 & Under 80lbs

Ryan Garrett (Team Lightning): 1st year at 12 & under, but consider 2002- 3 national tournament 1st places, 1st at State 10 & under 120, 2001 1st at State 10 & under 110

EJ Walter (STA): 2002 1st at District 1 12 & under 115, 2001 4th at State 10 & under 110, 1999 4th at State 8 & under 100

Long Shots might be the other top four 2002 placers from 10 & under 120 assuming that everyone moves up one weight class: Cameron Rapp Garden City, Jacob Nowak STA, & Dylan Bowman Wellingon (who has placed 4th at State the last three years in a row). These guys are long shots since it is their lst year at 12 & Under, but who knows. They might not qualify for State since it is their first year at 12 & under but it would not surprise me to see at least one of these three place at State this year.

I know there are many other potential winners and placers that I have not mentioned either because I do not know of them (other districts ) or because I think it is impossible to predict who is really going to end up in this weight group at year end. Some of the other threats that I know from District 1 (Travis Adcox, CJ Randall, and Nathan Kriss to name a few), I believe might end up either at 120 or 140. I think my final prediction in the next paragraph might end up in 120.

My conclusion is if all of the above mentioned do end up in this weight my early pick based on past history would be: DUSTIN MOSES from the Maize club.

Good luck to all wrestlers in this age and weight group for 2003. As always I'm sure there are going to be some surprises.
