As I familiarize myself more and more with woman's wrestling the more I am learning just like the rest of you girl's coaches. In trying to get my girls recruited, I found out that woman's wrestling in college is freestyle and not folkstyle like it is for men. So my question is why aren't we as a state having our girls wrestle freestyle to prepare them to wrestle at the next level? To me, it seems like a waste to have them learn and wrestle a style that is not going to be applicable in college and have to learn a different set of rules and scoring system. What will it take to change girl's wrestling in Kansas to freestyle?
