I would personally like to congratulate all twelve of the Shawnee Heights wrestlers who participated in the State tournament this weekend. As a three time qualifier I know how exciting and fun the tournament can be, and I just want to say that pulling off a 5th place finish with all that is going on is very impressive.

I would especially like to congratulate the seniors on the team. You guys are the last people I will really remember from my days as a high school wrestler, and you made "my final season" as a closely following fan really enjoyable. To Blake, and Tyler, congratulations on taking state, you both accomplished more than I would have ever expected from you as freshmen and sophomores. To Sean, you were the best workout partner I ever had, period. Without you, I know I wouldn't have gotten my medal, and I like to think that I had a little part in your success the last four years. To Jackson and Drew, you guys were great. I really enjoyed getting to know you throughout my wrestling career at Shawnee Heights, and just because you didn't bring home medals doesn't mean you’re not winners in my book. Shawnee Heights has a great wrestling family, and for those underclassmen that may or may not read this, keep the tradition strong. Good luck in all your endeavors, and good luck to all the wrestling community in Kansas.

I've really enjoyed being a part, but I think my time on this forum is done, I'll let the younger fellows continue from here.

Best regards and God Bless,

Matthew Crosson, Shawnee Heights Class of 2003
