Here is a question I have been wondering... on the post regardig the Wise kid from Pittsburg somebody implied that the an average season consists of 3 tournaments and 8 duals. I find this interesting because my senior year (2003) we only wrestled 1 dual and participated in 8 tournaments prior to regionals. Anyway...
My question is this: what makes up the average schedule of a team? Is the 3:8 ratio about right? I know the reasoning behind scheduling so many tough tournaments was to get the younger kids more prepared for a state-type atmosphere.

Golden Domer, I was not saying that was all the tournament Pittsburg goes to, because Pittsburg has a pretty tough tournament schedule. I know you are familiar with both of Pittsburgs coaches Scott Rieck and Jason Blanding, and they wouldn't have it any other way. I was simply trying to show who ever questioned how Wise had so many matches how easy he could have them.
Miami OK. dual tournament (10 team) Fort Scott dual tournament (8 team) Pittsburg dual tournament (8 team) Carl junction tournament (12-14 team) Derby tournament (21 team) SEK (Chanute) tournament (12-14 team) Paola tournament (10 team)
I think they have around 6 regular duals, mainly in the SEK league which includes Ft. Scott, and Columbus.

Oh, I know and I am not in any way discrediting Pittsburg's schedule or any other team with a similar schedule. I was simply curious what other teams around the state considered an average schedule. I was by no means implying that one schedule is better than the other. Sorry if I caused some confusion.

I'm still confused Big Pin, I know he didn't wrestle at Derby, SEK, Ft.Scott and Paola. Don't get me wrong, Wise is a good wrestler, we don't much info on people in SEK, I can't add up his record like you can.

Actually you are wrong MadMax, he did wrestle at Derby and Ft. Scott before he got hurt, I don't know exactly where all he wrestled at but I can assure you that he has as many wins as his record indicates. If you look at the schedule I posted he could have easily racked up that many wins even missing part of the season!

I stand corected Big Pin. It's unusual to not hear about a great wrestler like Wise until halfway though his junior season. I hope he gets another shot at Frankie this weekend.
