These statistics are not quite finished yet, but here are a few things to ponder over during the Christmas break.
(I’m having trouble finding information on Glenwood Iowa, so I’m proabably off a little)
Possible Wrestlers = 336
Ranked wrestlers = 76
State Medalist = 49
State Runner Up = 8
State Champions = 9
Some of the brackets should shape up to be very exciting.
Sorry if I get the spelling wrong on any of these.
130 State Placement Mancuso 2nd Deeds 1st Baker 1st Garvin 3rd Husle 3rd Waechter 6th
160 Speer 6th Taplin 1st Eden 4th Smith 6th Mamie 6th 171 Wiscombe 2nd Sonderegger 1st Malloy 3rd Alexander 4th
189 Barr 6th Gonzalez 1st Cisper 1st Hardy 5th
There are many more very good brackets, but I have to teach school sometime today.

Defending Bobcat Classic Team Champion Glenwood, Iowa is once again a powerhouse and is currently ranked #2 in Iowa #2A. They recently won the West Des Moines Tourney and had eight wrestlers in the finals. The following wrestler were champions: Marshall 112, Collins 152, Artist 160. Ryan Collins and Mitch Artist are both defending Bobcat Classic champions and placed in last year's Iowa state tournament. They will definitely toughen the 152 and 160 lb. weight brackets at the Bobcat Classic. The following state defending state champions will participate in this year's event:
Fisher (119) Andale Deeds (130) Goodland Baker (130) Blue Valley Taplin (160) Abilene Sonderegger (171) SM East Cisper (189) St. Thomas Aquinas Purcel (189) Effingham (ACCHS) Cisper (189) St. Thomas Aquinas Payne (275) Paola
We'll provide more information as the event gets closer.

Also add Gonzalez (189) Shawnee Heights to the defending state champs list.

Is Gonzalez going 189? So far all he's wrestled is 215? Just wondering cuz if so the 189 bracket would be stacked. 3 state champs all together. Sounds like 171 from last year!

Projected 171 Bracket:
Wiscombe-SFT-Currently ranked #1 4A Malloy-S. Heights-Currently ranked #1 5A Sonderegger- S. M. East-ranked #1 6A There are also 6 other wrestlers currently ranked in this bracket.
Projected 189 Bracket:
Cisper-STA-Currently ranked #1 6A Gonzalez-S. Heights-Currently ranked #1 5A Purcel-ACCHS-Currently ranked #1 3A There are also 4 other wrestlers currently ranked in this bracket and the Glenwood 189 pounder has an excellent record.
Obviously there are many other outstanding brackets. But this will give you a preliminary idea of the weights classes that were mentioned above.
