Pool A - Atwood, Colby, Concordia, Hays, Plainville, Sante Fe Trail
Pool B - Hoxie, Liberal, Oberlin, Phillipsburg, Scott City, Shawnee Heights
Pool C - Garden City, Hays-TMP, Oakley, Shawnee Mission East, Washburn Rural, Wray
Top team from each pool wrestles a round robin in the championship round to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Ditto for 4th - 6th, 7th - 9th, 10th - 12th, 13th - 15th and 16th - 18th.

Sorry. Would if I could, but I don't have the individual results yet. Event was held in three separate locations, so just getting the team scores was an adventure!

I thought it was really sad that Tait Weatherbee from Hays-TMP went undefeated and pinned Matt Miller and did not win the OW. I think someone made a mistake!

To: Mr. Les Brown I’m a wrestling fan of NW Kansas – since the early 1970’s when Rocky was at Goodland , Gabel at Sainty, Garcia at Atwood, and Jake at Norton (The guy with the weird ear) I want you to know that I appreciate your info from the NW KS area PS: Stay off your back

Mamasan: Tait had a great tournament, as did Matt Miller. Tait beat Matt 9-4, not by pin. Matt had 4 pins, two Majors and a loss to Tait. It was a great match and a great weekend.

Dalefish - Glad to keep you posted. I'm from originally from Hoxie. My wrestling resume is already built too, so instead of worrying about staying off my back the only wrestling worry I have is how well the good ol' alma meter, NWKL and Colby juco are doing each week.
Funny you should mention Rocky, as we were just discussing him last evening at the Colby Tourney. And we were also fortunate enough to have him in attendance at the event - what a great individual!
Kelly Baker from Hoxie brought it to our attention that 4 of the head coaches representing teams in the championship round were coached in high school by Coach Welton - Dale Samuelson (grad of Oakley & coach @ Oakley), Doug Moore (grad of Oakley & coach @ Concordia), Kirk Baker (grad of Goodland & coach @ Hoxie) and Martin Segovic (grad of Garden City & coach @ Garden City). Rocky's influence is still creating success today!
ps - mamasawn the OWs were voted on by the Coaches in each respective pool, but I'd agree that you bring up a very valid point.

i personally dont think that someone who only wrestles half their matches at a tournament should receive outstanding wrestler (kromer). i dont know who you would have given it to, kromer is an outstanding wrestler, but i think they should have at least given it to someone who wreslted all their matches. i realize the coaches vote on ow and this is just my opinion.

where did they get this guy??
Im talking about a ref in -pool C- at the Colby Dual Tournament this weekend.
Not only did he determine the outcome of a match, and a dual.........he decided the entire tournament for a team. A team that was on literally their way to go for 4th ended up having to wrestle for 16th, 17th, and 18th due to his poor calls. Let me know where he is scheduled to ref next, and i'll pay him to stay at home!!

To: Les Brown Refreshing to hear from someone who knows the Northwest Kansas area & Wrestling. Mr. Welton is indeed a legend. Goodland and Colby were/are bigger in population/male body count but when it comes to wrestling on the mat Atwood, Sainty, Oberlin, Hoxie, and Oakley were/are tough to handle for you big dawgs (3,2,1A vs. 4A) I think Dale Samuelson's son was a State Champ (Dale needed a haircut) - I think there is still one little Baker out there seeking a state championship. PS: Have you ever heard of Ben Duel? PS PS: Were you a state champ at 132 lbs??

Colby Dual Tourney was a good experience foreveryone. However, a few suggestions for the tournament director in the future.
FIRST: In at least two of the venues it was obvious that the table workers were clueless. Please take an evening before the tournament and give them a little training.
SECOND: There are a lot of great wrestling referee's out there, however, they were not at Colby......your tournament deserves better.
