Where are all of the eight and under HWT kids in the state?? We have one on our team whose biggest bracket last year was four kids. This is his first year at 8&U and we really don't want to make him wrestle 10 year olds. Do we need to go to bigger cities, bigger tournament? HELP! Thanks

How much does your boy weigh? We are from Topeka and my son wrestled 6U 80# last year and we had very similar problems. I guess it goes with the terratory. We are moving into 8U this year and will be wrestling 88# at least for the start of the season.

mark, the Jiskra boy is the one that I am talking about. I know that Nathan WAS the only kid last year in his bracket. Dakota weighs 100 this year. See where we are having the problem? First year at 8 and under and weighs 100lbs. Nathan should have a better chance at competition this year, at least better than what Dakota will.

My son has had the same problem in the past. They tell me that there were 7 in the bracket at Haysville. However, I do not know the weights of the kids. We have just started practice, but are going to Ark City. I know how frustrating it can be! Most tournaments divide the kids to make "sutible"? brackets at each tournament not going by the state brackets, so if your kid weighs 1 pound more than 15lbs of the other kids in the bracket they may separate him and put him in a bracket with one kid. If you would have known ahead of time that your boy only needed to lose a pound he could have wrestled a 7-8 man bracket. This is a big problem with the local tournaments that needs to be adressed! When you go to sub-state you have a choice of 110 or 125 and you have to make the weight! Why are we not doing this at the local tournaments? All of the other weights offered have to make weight. Also, to get more matches you may have to wrestle 10 & Under if your area does not have kids in your weight. I suggest when you enter a tourn. not to include you childs weight and when they call you to get it ask what the brackets look like so you know what weight to enter your kid.

I have 3 in my club alone. Two are open and one first year. They are between 100 and 110 pounds. We are going to Paola down your way. See you there.
