however it turns out, it makes all those teams that have beaten Hoxie outright look pretty good. I think Grater went a long way tonight toward proving that he may be the best in the state. Taplin, Kriegbaum and Zousas were all in tight matches, Taplin stretched it out a bit at the end but Grater just took his very tough opponent by the horns from the first to the last and thrashed him. I gotta be putting Grater and Bedore up at the top after this tournament.

Jhris was just too much for the guy, hurt him in the second period and he decided to give up. Manhattan gets the default same as pin, ties it up at 175.5,Abeline is third. Shippers was apparently injured in his match with Grater, so This was just not a good tourney at the end for Hoxie after a brilliant start. Too bad no nckl or nwkl team has a couple thousand students to pick from.

BigPin I agree with you, it is always funny to hear the excuse of numbers. Let's just ignore the fact that Jhris placed 4th last year at state, and won the Newton tourney this year. The only reason can possibly be that Manhattan has more students. And just because a school gets the numbers doesn't mean they get the talent to go with it.

they way i look at it is that schippers and sharpe go back and forth, they wrestle each other hard and are good, jason just couldnt do anything against an obviously superior wrestler in grater, schamberger came in with only 3 matches and wrestled a great match against kriegbaum, gilliland and zouzas i believe can go either way if they were to meet up again, harmon wrestled taplin very well. nwkl had some tough matches and i thought they wrestled them very well, colby had two champs, oberlin was missing two of their important wrestlers, and hoxie just had some troubles getting momentum on their side in the finals, either way it was a great tournament with excellent match ups between all classes. also what was the deal with chris match, what happened to the kid?

While I'll agree that 5a and 6a's might have more bodies to be in the wrestling room, not all the talent you get in there is something you write home to mom about. As for the heading of the man everyone loves to hate, that's a bit of a stretch...he seems cool to me and has never done anything to warrant me not liking him.

Bigpin: I apologize for my inference that Hoxie didn't win because of their size. They didn't win because they didn't compete at all the weights and manhattan did. in spite of that, Manhattan didn't win, either. My statemant was not an excuse-- it was a statement of the FACT that 14 is bigger than less than 14 and Hoxie did more with the oppurtunities that they had.

I thought in a tournament you get points on advancement, pins, techs, majors, and wins after a bye, plus placement....if you are up for 1st/2nd usually both guys get 10 pts added in to the score and then (most tournaments I've been to give 4 additional for 1st)plus you get 2 for pin, 2 for default, 1.5 for tech, 1 for major...so I would have though so is that why it tied the extra 4 plus the 2 for the forfeit.

BigPin 22, you are correct on the heading part.
So this kid is putting on his shoes right, and his mom says, honey you're putting your shoes on the wrong feet, and the little kid says, no mom these are my feet

Keep in mind, Manhattan was without Brian Shilling, ranked #1 in 6a at 135. Oh, and I believe he pinned (or majored) the eventual Beloit champion at that weight.
But kudos to the Clay Center 135. His victory won me three bucks in my finals pool.

Sweazy is my new friend because, much like everyone else on the forum, I've never done anything for him not to like me. Thanks.

Well, I took him down after about a minute I guess. I then turned him for 3 with a cradle. Then in the 2nd period he got an escape and then I took him down again, while locking up another cradle. This time, however, his ankle got caught under him, which made it pop. After that he was pretty much out of it. I took him down and turned him a few more times, minding the injury. I was up 14-4 when the ref decided that he could no longer go on. It was kind of weird for me because I know him and he's a nice guy. I just want everyone to know that I did NOT attack his injury, which would further hurt him. I stayed away from it and didn't even touch it.
So this kid is putting on his shoes right, and his mom says, honey you're putting your shoes on the wrong feet, and the little kid says, no mom these are my feet
