What's wrong with being conservative? You make it seem as if resistance to change is always wrong, which is a completely false assumption. If we don't respect the past and the way things were done, what kind of future can we expect? Unless we follow up and try to at least structure ourselves as our ancestors once did, we're making a mistake.
Our country has had an overwhelming number of conservative presidents compared to liberals, in fact Republicans are up 5 on the Democrats, 18 to 13. Another interesting discovery I have made is the legend that Republican presidents leave behind compared to Democrats. FDR and JFK are the most infamous liberal presidents we've had other than Bill, and beyond that, no one remembers what Grover Cleveland did, and no one cares about what Jimmy Carter did. However, if you look at the impressive list of presidents on the conservative side, you will find Dwight D. Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt, Ulysses S. Grant, and of course good old Abe Lincoln. I'm not saying that it's appropriate for anyone to pick a side based on this, but it is something that liberals need to remember when petitioning something for the sake of argument, like always. It would be ideal for our president to hold views from both sides, because both sides have equal faults and equal high points. Our third, fourth, fifth, and sixth presidents were able to do this, and could possibly be the best sequence of presidents this country has ever seen. Since then we've been lucky to get two presidents back to back who do a great deal for their country. I guess what I'm trying to say is that though Republicans don't always accept change well, it's not worth bringing up every single time a discussion occurs because we've all heard it before, and it's a lame argument. The same goes for Republicans calling liberals weak, which is kind of true, but still, without liberals we wouldn't have a lot of ideas that we have today that are shared and accepted by both sides.
We should all learn to respect eachothers opinions and find a way to improve the way things were done, not forget. If we didn't have Republicans trying to run the country like it always has been and Liberals trying to bring in new ideas, we would be in an imbalanced place as any third world country.
