A little irony here is the 112 pound young man from Dodge city. Earlier in the season at the Garden City Tourney he was bitten rather aggressively by an opponent and even though was able to show the bite mark, the incident was disallowed because he chose to wrestle out the match and try to win instead of quitting at the time of the incident and protesting. At his regional tournament, I understand that he was ejected for applying a crossface to his opponent in such a way that caused the opponent's lip to bleed. the opponent protested even though he was already winning. I gotta feel for that kid, he and his supporters must feel pretty betrayed by whatever rules there are about protecting a wrestler in Kansas. I applaud the ejection of any wrestler that is in flagrant infraction, but I believe that there should be a procedure that would allow appeal of those matters. In the case of a bite with marks on the wrestler, that indeed should be a no-brainer. in other cases of official judgement, the termination of a wrestlers season for an infraction that is not recognized when it happens should be very carefully considered before an ejection should be allowed. With a bite, I say heave the guy with no questions asked. otherwise, I think not. I saw plenty of actions that were considerably less than sportsmanlike at the 4a regional at Colby, Saw one team that on two occasions applied Illegal figure 4 to the head and neck to take a 1 point penalty instead of giving up a takedown, That move is illegal because very, very serious injury can result from its application, but the apparent coaching decision was that the opponent's physical danger was of no consequence compared to losing a takedown. That, in my opinion, is much worse than bad behavior by a wrestler, it is the action of a coach that certainly has been around long enough to know better, and reflects very poorly on his program.
