No, I don't know coach Neil and I did not mean to accuse him or Cody of cheating. I just think it's funny how you always hear of good wrestlers not making weight at the most important tournament of the year, maybe it happens more often during the year and we just don't hear about it.

Big Pin it happens at two day tourneys a lot, and when kids are working their weight tight and growing at the same time it happens even more. Cody is not the only kid not to make weight and he has wrestled tourneys all year where he has had to make weight shoulder to shoulder. It was just a bad blunder by you and it slandered a few good people. Just ought to think before you type.

For everyone who thinks Cody Bell was over weight for the season I can tell you that you're wrong. I am close with the wrestling team and know he hasn't be over and that this weekend was a very bad thing. Coach Neil and the rest of the BLHS staff that is invovle are very respectable and honest and if they (the wrestlers) mess up and are over weight they will be pulled. Cody did run and weighed back in and was under but it was not given to him. He still supports his team and will wrestling next year. And I agree that you do owe Neil, Joe, Cody, and the school an apology for your comment. It was rude and disrespectful.

I don't owe anybody an apology! I did not once acuse anyone of cheating, if you read my post I made a generalized statement saying that it makes you wonder when people miss weight at state. I just can't understand how someone can work hard all year long and consistantly make weight, then miss at the tournament that you have been working so hard to get to. Cody is a great wrestler and what I said was not even directed towards him, like I said before it was a general statement.
Cody, Good Luck to you in the future!

I see nothing wrong with Bigpin's statement. It is a sad story and to show pity you are attacking Bigpin for no reason. This is a place for opinions. He never directly called out Basehor, the kid, or the coach. I am sure some of you would have thought the same if it involved a school you knew nothing about.
It is too bad--Move on!!!

Coach neil would never cheat to help one of his wrestlers make weight. If one of his wrestlers is over they run to get off the weight an if they dont get it off they dont wrestle. Plain an simple!!!

Bell and other coaches are right. Scott Neil is one hell of a coach. he dont cheat on anything. He was coached by the best in ks at teh time and now he is one of the best. why would he cheat himself and any of his wrestlers. think about that one bigpen. ps cody im really sorry to hear bout ya bud, keep you head up and good luck this summer.

Whoa Neil was coached by one of the best all time. Are you talking about Gary Blosser?? Did he pay you to write that or is this Gary Blosser lol. Don't be saying anything like that about that old monkey he has a fat enough head as it is. I almost fell off my chair when I read that lol.

In BigPin's defense, it's not as uncommon as we all might hope for coaches to cheat for wrestlers. We've recently had a transfer to our school who brought questionable weight-cutting practices over with him (laxatives, puking, etc.). He's also mentioned that his coaches really didn't care if he was over or not. If he didn't make it you wouldn't know about it. It's a sad fact, but a fact nonetheless. However, our coaches here don't stand for that. You make weight by eating healthy and gradually cutting weight from the beginning of the week. At two day tournaments, you never allow your weight to exceed two pounds and you'll make weight easily.
