Intermat has reported that 439 collegiate wrestling programs have been dropped since 1972. While many have been purely a financial decision, most are alledged to stem directly from the enforcement of Title IX regulations.

Without a doubt, the concept of gender equity is an important concern. But, in my opinion, this has turned into reverse discrimination against the non-glamour male sports - including wrestling. Unfortunately few are lining up to protect our interests.

Cutting men's sports in order to free up revenues to promote women's athletics is one of the only alternatives available. Because, if college administrators do not comply with Title IX they run the risk of jeopardizing the receipt of all federal and state funding for their schools.
