I know we constantly wonder on Colleges in the state that don't have wrestling, but aren't there some teams out there that leave you scratching your head on the high school level in the state that don't have wrestling?
I think I'm most surprised by Riley County not having a wrestling team when I think of teams in the area I live. You have got to think with Manhattan, Clay Center, Abilene, Rock Creek, Chapman (had to get that one in there), Junction City and many other great schools, why doesn't Riley County field a team?
Soon as the Big Red One comes back too, I'd say the student population would increase and Riley County would be a great team to field a wrestling team.

i can't beleive that there's still some 4a schools out there that don't have wrestling. Girard is one that comes to mind, Iola is another.
Maybe you're not an ugly human, but a good looking ape.....with exceptional verbal skills.

And then there are some small school wrestling programs that are fighting for their lives with the school boards talking about cutting back. I know that with the new report on education to reach the state legislation, there will be many small/rural schools getting budget cuts in the next few years.

Conway Springs, Belle Plaine, Medicine Lodge, and Wichita Trinity all of the Central Plains League
Yates Center and Humbolt of the Tri Valley League
Erie in the CNC
Wichita Collegiate in the MCAA
All of these schools lack a wrestling team and they could all have good progams if they had wrestling.

Swayz, Riley County used to have wrestling in the 60's and were pretty good. I know I wrestled Greg Grater in the Regional finals at least once, maybe twice. It's been to long ago and a lot of pounds since we squared off at 103.
