Last years 5A returning State Qualifiers in the 189 lb. weight class are:
1. Tyler Gonzales - Shawnee Heights
3. Sean Pietrzyk - Salina South
Robert Dickinson - Kansas City Turner
George Edwards - Campus
Charles Groves - Kansas City Washington
Eric McIntosh - Shawnee Mission Miege
Pat Moore - Winfield
Kyle Nitcher - Valley Center
Taylor Slifer - Newton
Some of these athletes may have experienced weight gain from the previous season and may move up a weight class. The same may be said for returning qualifiers from the 171 lb. weight class who will be moving up to 189 lbs.
