Looks like Grater had a pretty close match. Its still early but I am somewhat surprised at that score! Also am curious about Pfannenstiel.

Grater had a good challenge in the finals...I think that the Salina Central freshman Heavyweight could easily be the best freshman heavyweight in the state! He lateraled Sprigg and made a tough match out of it.

Judd Schroeder from Andale who wrestled Danny Grater in the finals is a cousin to Zach Roberson, Cody Garcia, and the Metzler's from Newton.
Did Blake Fisher from Andale not wrestle at 119 lbs.?
Was the Fisher at 112 lbs. Blake's talented younger brother Brent?

Blake was taking his ACT test today. The 112 lber for Andale was Brent, his younger brother.

I agree about Elijah Madison from Salina Central @ 275. He is a very talented athlete and will win state a number of times. WOW!!!! Only a freshman.

Wow, those are some interesting results!!
Mr. Schroeder has been beaten a number of times by Marvio Tishausher from Abilene who is not wrestling this year for some reason I do not know. But to think that a Judd whom I know is an extremly talented wrestler could stay that close to Danny surprises me. It makes me wonder how well Marvio would have done this year as a freshman.
Elijah Madison practiced with the Abilene Kids club the last couple of years, I knew he was going to be good coming in.
I wish Dawson could have bumped up and wrestled Mancuso, those two have a past with each other, a rematch would have been good to see.
Congratulations are in order for Clay Center, and of course to Abilene. The season is a long way from over, I still look to see both teams place in the top 3 at state this year.

Trail, Abeline, Clay, Goodland..... looks like a barn burner state coming. This year in 4a I don't think anyone will have 13 wrestling and win without a champion. I think the team with the big power wins this year. Abeline and clay look good, but Trail and Goodland do, too. too bad Norton isn't 4a-- I don't see a lot of competition for them this year at 123.

sainty looks tough in 321A which harkens back to the days of an intense sainty/norton rivalray in the coach durram days where duel confrontations between the two would often lead to fist fights in the stands! it will be interesting to see how this year plays out

Abilene, SFT, and Clay will all be eliminating key wrestlers off each others team at the same regional! Goodland and Colby will be out west with Scott City. I think this year's surprise team in 4a will be Andale. They had a pretty good showing at Clay Center in 4th place and also placed 2nd the week before at another tournament. They did well without having some key parts of their team there!
Also Junction actually had 73.5pts to finish 7th! Aren't they supposed to be #9 in 6a?

Those days of Sainty and Norton were stuff of legend, Jake Durham and Pudge Wilson could both get their guys up and likely there should have been double security at some of those duals. I would really like to see St. Francis get a team championship as they have at least one in every decade since the 1930's, but Norton is just so deep that in my view the 'ol Indians had better get some more arrows in the quiver. Back in the day depth didn't count for so much because Atwood, Oakley, Oberlin, and (way back) Goodland and Colby all had guys in the championship finals and sometimes 4 or 5 guys could win a title. Not so anymore-- I believe that the winning 123a team will have 4 to 5 guys going for first, and 3 or 4 in the consolation, maybe more. Clay center proved that Norton can be beaten at a tourney, but if you water both teams down with a regional the week before and everyone is healthy, I think Norton wins. Tough to say though, this might be Clay's year. As for Andale in 4a, Swayz could be right-- as odd man out regionalwise, they stand to fill a lot of weights at state to go with the 3 or 4 power guys they have and if they all score, who knows? I think that has happened before in 4a!

Aaron, Could we please not turn every thread into a discussion of each classes strength? I am from Oakley and admittedly have a bias for the smaller classes, but I coach at Junction City. You talk about our #9 ranking...are we? At this point I would say no, because as you fail to say in your haste to bash us, we are without our 119, 152, 189, and 275. Would that have made a difference in our score, I believe so. The point is there are always circumstances that all fans are not aware of. These rankings have no way of taking all of these factors into account, and ultimately its how you end the season that matters. Your interest in Junction City is also interesting to me. When we lost Daniel Stevens you were quick to start a thread on that, and now in a thread about the Clay Center Invite, you have chosen to turn it again toward us. I never post angry threads, but here's a start....4a is an awesome class, but before you come on here bragging about it's superiority, your school might want to learn to COMPETE in it rather that just participate! ~John Steiger JCHS (and 3-2-1a contender from the NWKL, Oakley)

Daaaaaaang. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuurn.
That being said, I don't think Sweazy was trying to bash Junction City...but it was still a sweet burn on Chapman.
And with THAT being said, let ME now bash Junction City:
Manhattan rules. Junk Town drools.

Pete Eck looked pretty impressive. He should do well this year. He was the number 4 seed in the tourny and beat Lund in the semi's 5-2.
