Jhris, good topic. I don't think you can leave B.C. out of this if you're going on their dual team. They had a few problems at the end, but they were very tough mid-way through.

Turner was terrific also. They too are tough to get pins against. I don't know much about the western Kansas teams this year, but Scott City was tough and Norton is always solid from top to bottom.

Manhattan is my pick though. In a close match, you guys would break out some witty banter and reign supreme.

Well thank you coach. I think that our advantage is that we don't have a weight that's a given. All of our weights are either placers or are solid enough to avoid pin points. We're also solid enough to pick up pin points in a lot of weights. Well, we were, the team is now broken up, sadly.

Also a correction at 140, Mikey beat the Norton guy 9-2. So I think that we would win about 9 matches out of the 14.

Norton's 119 pounder (Brockelman) was a pretty good freshman. He took second at state. He lost to Farber from hoxie by 2-3 points, as he had several times during the year. If I remember right, Farber beat bingham by a major decision at the beloit tournament.

And if I remember right, Jeb beat him. Bingham would probably beat Jeb, for the simple fact that he's fatter. Bingham beats Brockelman, by ugly default. (That guy is very goofy looking. Yes, worse than me. Yes again, Prant has a huge nose.)

You do not get 119. Jeb is little, and he beat the guy. Bingham is fat and could beat Jeb, probably by a lot based on size. In addition to that, you have no falls. We have at least 2. Manhattan wins.

I showed a valant comeback by manhattan with falls at 189 and 215. But I really don't think the 215# match would end in a fall because the cradle is simply too easy to fend off -- especially when you are used to it from wrestling St. Francis 4-5 times a year. Possibly a tech fall, but the fall shown above for drama only made for an exciting finish to the hypothetical dual. It actually ended with Jhris celebrating with his most-muscular pose and costing Manhattan a team point for revealing his six-pack on the mat. Final Score: Hoxie 33 Manhattan 29.

I don't know if all of those are right buddy. I know their 60 pounder is good, but RJ is really amazing, especailly late in the year. Should have been a state champ, but got injured in the semi's. I really think that he was one of the best, if not the best 60 in the state towards the end of the year. And yes, I would pin him. He was pinned by guys at Beloit that I would pin/tech fall. Not to brag, I just would. Also, I think if they wrestled again at 52, it would be close, or Justin would win. He sucked at Beloit big time. Gilliland wouldn't pin Mikey, Mikey doesn't get pinned often. At 25, Wagner SHOULD have beaten Baker, but made some mistakes that a sophomore makes, and lost by a point. So here is how it would go.

I think that a lot of these matches would be closer than you thought because if we were to dual, we would be focused. Also, at 60, RJ was seriously ma-hony at the end of the year. I realize Campbell is good, but RJ is tiiiight.

At 40, I think Mikey wrestled him to a pretty close match at Kids State like two years ago. Since high school is totally different, I'll give Gilliland the major.

I agree with you Jhris, except at 171. This is how it would happen:

Wyler goes out for his match looking studly and awesome, intent on carrying on the tradition of awesome Hat Town 171ers. First period starts. Wyler stalls, as he has been taught, but somehow Shipley gets a takedown and rides him out. First period ends 2-0.

Wyler wins the toss, defers. Shipley takes bottom and switches Wyler. Somehow he gets a cheap 2, but Wyler escapes. Score is now 6-1, going into the third.

Third period begins with Wyler down. Wyler is gassed, so Shipley rides him easily. Hoxie fans cheer wildly for their man, as he appears poised to gain a 6-1 or 6-2 decision. With about one minute left, however, the South Gym doors burst open. The spotlight shines on Prant.

Prant runs like a madman, flips the Hoxie coach out of his chair, grabs the steel folding chair and beans Wyler in the head. Prant tosses Wyler off the mat, then turns and gives Shipley an evil, "boy-you're-lucky-we-didn't-meet-at-Beloit-two-years-ago" look. With about 45 seconds left and Hat Town down 6-1, Prant immediately takes Shipley down, so it's now 3-6. Prant then lets Shipley up, 3-7.

It is now that the takedown clinic begins. Prant repeatedly has his way with the Hoxie 171, culminating in a Andre the Giant-esque body slam with about 6 seconds left. Prant then hops on top of Shipley, lifts one of his legs, and the ref pounds the mat three times.

Prant wins, the crowd goes wild, and even Hoxie fans applaud the courage and ability of Prant Garker. After the applause subsides and the dual is sealed in favor of Manhattan, Prant and Shipley do a rendition of "A Whole New World" from the movie 'Aladin.'

At 160, I was just going by Campbell placing 3rd at beloit and Johnson placing 5th. I really don't know manhattan's 140 & 145 well enough to predict falls. I just know Gilliland and Schippers get a lot of them.

Yeah, RJ had a sand problem about mid-season, like at Beloit. Also, he probably would get the fall at 45, fris is a fish and gets scared of the good guys. But Mikey wouldn't get pinned, he would probably just lose by like 10, because Gilliland is goooood. But Mikey stalls, and Gilliland doesn't score an enormous amount of points in his matches, so just a major.

i'm not afraid of the good guys i just kinda get in my head that they are better and i end up sucking big time in those matches (Except at Newton) newayz Schippers would probably get the fall or major on me for i am a fish and it is hard to pin me because i flop alot

Jhris, I can't agree/disagree with the Hoxie results because I have not seen them. I do agree that your 52 & 60 pounders are SOLID! I think falls are a stretch, even with Hoxie's studs. Overall, it doesn't matter, because it is rare to have two teams with all of their guns on the mat, and this is all for fun. Congrats on everyone keeping this topic lighthearted, too.

Dual state is the way to go.

By the way, what if you take Hoxie's all time greats vs. Manhattans All-Star team?

That would be interesting. With Coleman, Bradshaw, Parker, Bammes, etc., we would be tough to beat. Hoxie is amazing, and I'm sure their little weights would tear us apart.

And I don't think Mike would take Gilliland to double ot, or overtime for that matter.
